What type of person could defend this ?
A war that was obviously begun on a lie. And then see almost 1900 US troops dead because of that deception. And lie about the people that are attempting to march for the truth. What type of person, after all that has been done and known about, could still continue to support their original mistake? What type of mental self-manipulation must take place for such denial to continue? What type of person would continue to cheer for war after knowing it was all about a lie? What type of person, indeed...

1. The basic concept is....
people who support DUH-bya despite all the information simply think all that info is a lie.

They don't believe it, won't listen, and won't change their minds.

There's also a strange crowd who loves the idea of America going to war, it's in our culture, I guess. Marching off to save the world, and nothing anyone says can covince them it's wrong.

4. I keep thinking that the fundies are convinced he is God's chosen
pResident (the manifest destiny millenialism crowd), and that he is helping to prepare the world for the rapture. If that is the case, I hope the rapture come's soon so I don't have to put up with fundies anymore.

12. I'm so fed up with the fundies that I really don't care who goes where...
as long as I don't have to go where they are!!! Of course wherever they go will be hell for them if they don't have liberals, feminists, homosexuals etc. to be the focus of their bile and venom.

6. I think is it pure cowardice.
These people are so afraid of telling themselves that they have been lied to. Just another one of the many malignant states of denial in the country. They want to believe that the US is a good force in the world and just won't come to grips with reality that it COULD be a force for good in the world if only they would admit to themselves that they have been duped and have to courage to stand up and do something about it.

7. Someone like each of us
Someone who has double-think about those particular issues. All of us are unclear on some issues, presumably, and have irrational loyalties.

Someone who thinks that different morality applies for people when they are part of an organization or not. For example, someone who believes killing innocent people is excusable when done while obeying the commands of an authority figure.

Someone who turns their brain off and feels attacked if someone threatens the symbols they are attached to.

Someone who divides people into good people and bad people, rather than deal with the painful notion that all of us are capable of good and bad actions.

9. I was talking about this very subject with my husband this evening!
I don't get it. How the hell can anyone support a PROVEN illegal and immoral war? It's beyond me...

Peace.

in the world.

The enabled Nazi's, fascists, Communists, neo-cons, Caesars, Robespierre, Napoleon and a host of other individuals and groups. They find it far too difficult to accept they've been duped; and worse, many of them live out their fantasies of hatred and dubious passions. They justify their existence through self imposed ignorance.

14. I think this fact NEEDS to get hammered as often as possible:
According to Iraq Body Count there have been between 23589 and 26705 Iraqi deaths.

Even by the most conservative estimates, 13,881 Iraqi noncombatants have been slain.

According to Wikipedia, approximately 40% of the Iraqi population is under 15 years old.

Therefore, at a hard minimum, 5552 children have been killed due to the invasion and occupation. The more realistic estimate would range from 9436 and 10,682 children dead because of Bush's lies.

Let the Bushbots support those numbers by shouting "Stay the course!"
