As long as the man believes that Republicans are mostly right and Democrats are mostly wrong (which I'm sure he does), and as long as he's a greedy little bastard (which I'm sure he is, given that belief), he can justify a little twist of the truth in order to maintain Republican control. And he can take pride in that.

...considering the fact that he does absolutely no thinking for himself, just spouts the party line night and day, I'd say he does little thinking about his life at all - he just exists in an externally controlled fog, poor thing.

And when you look like gumby, are right wing and gay, are head of the party while the WH infected - er, inhabited - by your party is under investigation for treason - well, if I were him I wouldn't want to think too much right now either!

13. What really drives me up the wall about Mehlman...

is that smug look he gets after spewing one of his obvious lies. He closes his mouth and sets his jaw and his lips kind of purse together. This expression makes me want to hurl things at the television. He looks so pleased with himself, like a little kid who is getting away with something he knows he shouldn't be.

Although last night on Hardball I thought I saw some desperation behind his normally steely facade. I think even Kenny is having a hard time swallowing the garbage Rove's feeding him these days.
