"GD Discussion Politics" Answers the Lounge...in kindness..........

and mild answer to all of my fellow DU'ers in the "Lounge" who donate when fellow DU'ers die in the line of battle, and come and post when things get dull here..in the GD and GD Politics Forum.

Just an opinion from this "oldie DU'er."

Yeah...there's probably a little "resentment" that there's always a "Party" going on down there in the DU Lounge when we up here in GD and GD Politics and elsewhere are going at EVERYTHING that's WRONG WITH AMERICA ...and maybe sometimes we think that "Lounge" is sitting there "sipping latte's..and other "stuff" and having "angst" over much that we think might seem a little "trivial sometimes."

But...putting it all together...I've not ever "cut off" the Lounge Posts from my LBN DU View. I get really upset and frustrated with what might seem trivial posts that I have to "scroll through" before I get to what's REALLY important to MY Pshyche...

But...in the end, it seems that some folks really need more recreation and fun than some of the rest of us and so in the spirit of "Ecumenasim" (sheesh...did I spell that correctly...is there such a word? :eyes: ) I do figure that the "DU Lounge" has a better tolerance of what's healthy as opposed to some of us who keep "banging heads against brick walls."

So can we call a TRUCE between the Loungies and the folks who put on the battle armour on GD Poltics and figure that BOTH of us have much to offer?

The "Lounge" might just be for gentler folk with much info to share but they can't stand the "hard edge?"

I get many good tips from DU Lounge about Tech Stuff I can't deal with,Legacy Movies, Art, Current Cinema...and yeah...I hate to say it..but lots of Soap Opera that might turn some off but is really to the core of who we are and what we are in LIVING on this PLANET with maybe those who aren't exactly LIKE US ...but they make LIFE WORTH LIVING...because they "lighten our lives" ...those of us so serious we can often miss the fun.

It's not a Battle...it's kind of a "dust up." :shrug:

1. i love the lounge and would miss it so much

these are god awful times, and reality sucks. the daily serious stuff can get to me some days and the lounge balances that.

5. Going back to the "old days" it seemed to me as a "Newbie" that the

"Lounge" was described as a place for folks to "Unwind" after a hard day of politics. I'm not saying that some folks don't "unwind" TOO MUCH sometimes there..or that the "Lounge" might just be a whole separate Universe here...but that so many folks DO NEED a place to go...or to "commeraderie" and maybe that's just what our Left needs and that Loungies are as much a part of Leftie Culture as the rest of us.

After all....the Freepers go out in their Hummers and SUV's and ride over "hand painted crosses of Soldiers who died in Iraq for "RECREATION."

I would hope that Democratic Underground Loungies are "relieving themselves much better that the "Freep/Trolls" who only know "Evil Doing" and don't have a clue as to what "HEALTHY" relieving and having fun is all about. If it doesn't hurt someone is important to Dems...but to Repug/Freep/Trolls it HAS TO HURT SOMEONE to be FUN..

6. The purpose of that remark was that the Democratic Party is as coherent

as the DU Lounge on most days.

from those cool folks in DU Lounge...who've NEVER let this DU'er down with movie reviews...:D Best Movie review site for Dems on the Internet...for the "little known...and the much known in Movies to rent when one is "spent out," and needs a lift or a break or a kick in the butt for "culture."

Don't get much talky action in the Lounge, probably much due to my GD and GDP action, but I still enjoy myself for the most part in all three forums.

8. The LBN and General Discussion get a little "heavy" at times

and I need a break. I love going to the Lounge because there is always something funny and silly going on to lighten things up.

9. I post to both the Lounge and GD...

(mostly the lounge) because I see so many people turning on each other in GD. Even Matcom said in the lounge a couple weeks ago that someone in GD told him to get back to the lounge because his opinion didn't matter in GD! If the people in GD are going to do that to someone who has been on DU since 2002 and posted more than 35,000...what would they do to someone like ME who is only getting ready to hit 1000? I have made a LOT of friends in the lounge and enjoy all of our discussions and I'm glad I can talk with likeminded people! That's why I donate to DU.

10. We all just need to get past judging other people.

If the Lounge feeds someone, then he/she should go to the Lounge. If GD feeds the person, then he/she should go to GD. I really don't understand what the big deal is.

Everyone needs to just get over it, and, personally, I feel that someone should be banned if they tell someone to go back to the Lounge or back to GD.

(I go to both the Lounge and GD, and I feel comfortable in both.)
