Army Planning for Four More Years in Iraq
Army Planning for Four More Years in Iraq
August 20th, 2005

Is there no end to this madness… apparently not in the eyes of the Army or General Peter Schoomaker who said today in an AP interview that “the Army is prepared for the “worse case” in terms of the required level of troops in Iraq.”

The Army is planning for the possibility of keeping the current number of soldiers in Iraq — well over 100,000 — for four more years, the Army’s top general said Saturday.

Schoomaker said commanders in Iraq and others who are in the chain of command will decide how many troops will be needed next year and beyond. His responsibility is to provide them, trained and equipped.

About 138,000 U.S. troops, including about 25,000 Marines, are now in Iraq.

“We are now into ’07-’09 in our planning,” Schoomaker said, having completed work on the set of combat and support units that will be rotated into Iraq over the coming year for 12-month tours of duty.

1. How exactly will they do this without a draft?
Not much of this "planning" they talk about has shown.

6. Of course it is about the Oil...
...hard to get the Oil out if there is a Civil War going on.

BTW there is going to be a most uncivil Civil War going on very soon in Iraq. Of course we are going to get stuck in the middle...and you thought the casualty count was high in August !!!

Anyone remember the number of dead troops per day in Vietnam...
...if you don't the next year is going to shock you !!!

5. Step 1 - release innocent citizens and employ corporate soldiers.
Edited on Sat Aug-20-05 10:35 PM by higher class
Allow our troupes to come home since this is a corporate war by design of PNAC and the certain people in the Republican Party. In other words, stop using innocent kids for a corporate venture.

Hire professional soldiers and let the world give PNAC and certain people in the Republican Party flack.

We are tired. Our future means stricken families and incredible debt and a burdensome support system for these physically and mentally maimed boys and girls.

There was no reason to create terrorists. Normal people want to live in peace.

Our leaders created an enemy so that they could make money and express their war making juices by designing new toys and testing new war theories. The money they want to make is for themselves.

The people deserve safe conduct, jobs, education, health and care, and an opportunity to rise in life.

The American dream is to create a life so that children can rise higher than the parents. There is nothing wrong with that for Americans and everyone else on this planet.

We were not born to be slaves and martyrs of a few.

In this country we are going backwards. This weekend we witnessed union breaking. We are on our way to being equal to formerly third world countries. It is in the design for us.

9. We're already paying a fortune for their friggin corporate soldiers!
This would only create taxpayer MORE debt.

Unfortunately they don't see enlightenment and reason like we do, either.

11. As a minimum expect 3 to 4 deaths daily or....
...(3.5 U.S. killed X 365 days X 4 years = 5,110 more deaths + 1,863 deaths to date = 6,973) just to stay the course.
