1. each dem politician who still supports this God damned war should enlist
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 10:40 PM by kodi
the political cowardice in the leadership of the democratic party is appalling. the so-called "cunning plan" to lay low has all the signs of vacillating whimpishness that is branded on the backs of democrats in general by the right wing.

JESUS CHRIST! STAND FOR SOMETHING WILL YOU? PEOPLE ARE DYING AND YOU SO-CALLED LEADERS ARE READING TEA LEAVES.

is it any wonder why even idiots vote for Bush? regardless of his stupidity, at least you know where he stands.

the only thing in the middle of the road is roadkill!

2. i dont see that headline
what are you talking about? the story is that dems are split over iraq policy.

And I don't see what the dems problem is. All they have to say is this: we voted for the war because Bush said the intelligence proved wmd, then when that wasn't found, the policy was regime change. now that sadam is captured, the policy is democracy and freedom. well, there are no wmd's, sadam is captured and iraqis dont want democracy. It's TIME TO LEAVE, and then propose a timetable.

how fucking hard can this be? this country was there when all this was going down. we remeber how events unfolded, it aint like they have to lie or make shit up.

Unless theres something they arent telling us. like maybe peak oil is here and we HAVE to secure a supply . Sadam was not going to be freindly with us since Bush 1 made the relationship "strained" and so we decided to just TAKE it. We are building permanant bases there, we are never going to leave that country without a regime that will cater to our (energy) interests, er corporate interests. There is no plan for alternative energy, instead we will spend a trillion for what little exists. such shortsightedness, such stupidity!

3. Or maybe they want to choke the rest of the world.
Maybe the plan to not develop alternative energies is a plan to choke the rest of the world into submission by cutting their oil off, more than a plan to continue forever on oil by us. You see? All military machines run on oil, and if US can significantly monopolize it, it gives us a huge advantage.

6. advantage over what though?
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 11:21 PM by Donailin
who's going to buy products without the income to purchase them, here or abroad?

You just know that the neocons believe that what they are doing is for the best of America -- CORPORATE America. They believe that the ends will justify the means. They believe whats good for the corporations is good for the people, that is their reality. They really thought that the Iraqi people would just fall in line. They wouldn't listen. They cannot be happy about the situation now. They thought that Iraq would co-operate and Iran would be the next "cakewalk" because there is lots of oil in Iran too.
Bottom line: these guys committed impeachable offenses. We MUST move toward the goal of making Bush resign or get him impeached and that is only going to happen by the people. Not the media, not the dems in washington. The people have to mobilize, as they are now, and reject this administration.

The tide is definitely turning, we can't blow this.

7. The advantage from turning off the oil.
Would have nothing to do with sales, really. Sales are just the exchange of resources benificial to both parties. War is taking resources without benifit to the victim. War is more profitable than sales. And yes, what these guys want to do is benificial to corporations, not us, not the well being of the world. I believe we will overcome! :)

4. Calling for a plan to win this war and demanding an exit strategy
does not necessarily mean they support this war and want to stay for an extended period of time. IMO, you can be anti- Iraq War and still demand that Bush get it right and get us out of there damn soon. To many lives, too much destruction and to much money has been spent to not come out of this with something positive for Iraq and it's people. As long as Bush is in office we will be in Iraq unless we demand he gets it right and gets us out of there. I think we all need to challenge Bush on his Iraq plans. We need to see results not crap about the MSM not reporting the good things that have taken place.

5. the truth hurts but it's still the truth ...
first, the Cindy Sheehan factor: "Democrats say a long-standing rift in the party over the Iraq war has grown increasingly raw in recent days, as stay-the-course elected leaders who voted for the war three years ago confront rising impatience from activists and strategists who want to challenge President Bush aggressively to withdraw troops."

then, this observation that highlights the playing of politics over the leading on policy: "The wariness, congressional aides and outside strategists said in interviews last week, reflects a belief among some in the opposition that proposals to force troop drawdowns or otherwise limit Bush's options would be perceived by many voters as defeatist. Some operatives fear such moves would exacerbate the party's traditional vulnerability on national security issues."

and Howard Dean caught between "Iraq and a hard place" because of the growing rift: "Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, who rose to public prominence on an antiwar presidential campaign, said on television a week ago that it was the responsibility of the president, not the opposition, to come up with a plan for Iraq."

establishment Democrats can hide their "too long in power" heads in the sand if they want to, but the bottom line is that they are badly out of touch with the rapidly growing majority of us ... either they are going to have to represent our views or they are going to have a major battle on their hands ... the midterms are approaching; either join those of us calling for an end to the madness of King George or get the hell out of our way ... if you refuse to represent us, we will NOT support you ...
