There is a good essay (Day 1,461 and Counting by Michale Tomasky,
http://www.prospect.org/web/page.ww?section=root&name=ViewPrint&articleId=10108 ) in the September issue of the The American Prospect.
One of Tomasky's larger points is that if Al Gore had been president, the rightwing noise machine would make sure that everyone would be reminded that bin Laden still goes un-captured, which leads me to a question about the Dems and Progressives.
If people were given the task to single out a handful of Dems/Progressives/movers and shakers to develop a coherent Democratic message, who would they be?
This list is of course not exhaustive (nor in order of power or influence). I know there are others out there that are escaping me right now.
1. Howard Dean
2. Bill Clinton/Hillary Clinton
3. Harry Reid
4. Al Gore
5. John Kerry
6. Jesse Jackson
7. John Conyers
8. Dick Durbin
9. Edward Kennedy/Robert Byrd
10. Various Blogs/Internet Sites - DailyKos (Markos Moulitsas Zúniga)/DU/TalkingPointsMemo (Josh Marshall)
