So I just got off the phone with Mike Allen (WaPo).

Carla in Ca messaged me saying that Mike Allen wanted "average" folks to call him about the protest here in Salt Lake City (2,000+). So I did just that.

He was nice, asked me a bunch of questions (why?) and we talked about how the protest was made up of some varying demographics. Anyway, thought I'd tell ya'all, not sure what will come of it...but it was fun! :)

The difference between mediocre and informative. Allen has enough of a voice that the particulars (and the subsequent article?) are important.

7. A brief review of the Q and A:

I don't know if this'll be for a story, or if he was doing it just to humor me.

Anyway it started off by me telling him that I had read somewhere that he was looking for average folks to call in about the protest.

I told him that there were around 2,000 people there, making up varying demographics. There were teens there, as well as the elderly. Conservatives, liberals, moderates and just average Americans protesting.

He asked how the protester were and I told him that they were all courteous to protesters and Bush supporters (though there were a couple yelling matches). I said that there was no violence and that it went over pretty smoothly.

He then asked how I had heard about it and I told him that Mayor Anderson (Salt Lake City), called upon people to come out and protest. Basically to show that Utah wasn't just one-voice in support of Bush and his policies.

Then he asked me why I went to the protest and I told him because I didn't agree with Bush's policies and that I thought it would be exciting to converse with those that share my opinion. It's very difficult finding a large group of people that share your opinion on the war here in Utah.

He then started talking about a protesting march where people danced in the streets, however I had left before that occurred.

I believe that was it.

I really don't know what the questions were for though.
