Dianne Feinstein to Question Roberts on Abortion
I know posting this will start a DiFi flamefest... sadly. She's in our side on this, I hope some will support her efforts...

Dianne Feinstein to Question Roberts on Abortion
August 22nd, 2005

Dianne Feinstein is the only woman on the 17-member Judiciary committee. This position is not one she is taking lightly in terms of the Roberts nomination. With questions abounding about his stance on abortion, Feinstein, who is a staunch advocate of women’s rights said today that “she will scrutinize his views on abortion and congressional authority to set social policy.”

She called the impending debate over Roberts’ nomination a “big, big deal.”

“I don’t think in the last couple of decades there has been a Supreme Court appointment that could more tip the balance of the court,” Feinstein said in a speech to several hundred Silicon Valley business executives. “That’s how mega this vote is.”

Feinstein said she has a “special role and a special obligation” in grilling Roberts - particularly on his views about the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion. “I happen to feel that it would be very difficult for me to vote yes on a nominee I thought would overturn Roe vs. Wade,” she said.

In her remarks Monday, Feinstein also said the Supreme Court under Chief Justice William Rehnquist had restricted congressional authority to pass legislation.

1. She's useless...
She lost me along time ago. I plan to work tirelessly to defeat her in her bid for re-election..

4. Well than you tell her not to stand up for women's rights!
And gun control, and gay rights.

6. Sorry, I've tried. I can no longer support her...
I dare say, whoever I do support will also be on the right side of those issues.

I despise her so much, that if I had more time on my hands I would do a one-man protest in front of her office, with signs so insulting, vulgar, and extreme, that I would likely get arrested.

10. Sorry she HAD the support of liberals - they helped put her in office
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 01:19 AM by fujiyama
but then pissed on it when she started from the begining of Chimpy's first term voting for his agenda starting with the tax cuts. She has continued, voting for the war, the PATRIOT Act (actually defending it on several occassions claiming the criticisms were exageratted), CAFTA, hell, I could go on and on. Her husband actually DONATED to Bush and they have made a nice profit off this war as well.

Needless to say, she's no better than Lieberman.

18. During the IWR vote
she stated that she had 10,000 calls/e-mails/faxes to her DC office urging her to vote "no." She also stated she had 200 calls, etc., urging her to vote "yes." And we all know what her vote was. When a Representative no longer represents his/her constituents, he/she no longer serves the purpose for which they voted into office. Enough of this "support them just because they have a 'D' next to their name." That's just stupid. It's like the people who STILL blindly support *.

8. Dear Sen Feinstein.
I understand that you intend to ask John Roberts about abortion rights. That's fine and good. However, I would much appreciate it if you could put some effort into asking President Bush, "For what noble cause are our brave soldiers dying in Iraq?" After it has been demonstrated that Bush lied to Congress, American citizens, and the world to justify the preemptive attack on a defenseless country, this is the most important question right now.

Please follow your conscience and your oath to defend the Constitution and do what you can to get us out of this nightmare in Iraq.

Sincerely,

17. Well, it's a start.
But Feinstein needs a lot more spine than this to earn my respect.
