"Sirius Patriot"? Why we need to boycott Sirius Radio in favor of XM
Sirius satellite radio has a conservative talk channel called "Sirius Patriot." The left wing channel is simply called "Sirius Left."

Yet another outrageous example of RW propaganda in which the word "patriot" is used as if it were synonymous with the right wing. Sirius also has another channel "Sirius Right," so that makes it a 2 to 1 conservative line-up.

Of course, XM broadcasts Air America Radio, so that is reason enough to get XM.

So if you're in the market for satellite radio, GET XM!!!!!

1. Ummm........isn't XM owned by Rupert Murdoch? Are you telling me his
conglomerate has gone Left? Or, in his case even "Middle of the Road?"

its a publicly traded company...I think General Motors may be its biggest stockholder, but I don't think anyone owns more than 10 percent.

10. Nope. Absolutely false. Murdoch has nothing whatsoever to do with XM.
Here is the company's major stockholders. No Murdoch, no Clear Channel, etc.

5. The choice is not a great one--XM vs. Sirius. XM gets the edge for
that crapola "Sirius Patriot" thing. But XM doesn't provide pure AAR programming. I get big fat, awful chunks of Alan Colmbs and Ed Schultz right where Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy should be. And sometimes Fox Newsbites, instead of AAR news, and other horrors. (Nascar reports, etc.)

Someone gave me a lifetime subscription to XM for my car as a B-Day present, cuz I'm so far out in a rural area, and can't get anything when I'm driving. And I was unhappy with it for a while--glad to get at least SOME AAR, but thinking we'd made the wrong choice (and got locked into it). So, it's good news for me that Sirius is worse. I got the best of the two by default. Why the hell doesn't some satellite company just give us pure AAR? Damn!

11. Ed Schultz will be transferred to another station on XM on 9/1,
and Randi's complete schedule will be on XM's Air America.

7. overall ,of the two ,I prefer Sirius;
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 07:10 PM by jedr
Stern's three new channels will come on board Oct.1, If there is a demand for lefty radio (which there is)I feel it will come about...I do think they made a mistake with AAR.. I will voice my displeasure over the lack of progressive programing however; and if more do the same we will have it soon. Also , I get Lynn Cullen (local liberal talk) and Thom Hartman on A.M. which fills by bill for liberal talk each day.

8. I like Sirius
The two are locked in battle right now signing deals for their channels. I'm definitely not going to jump right now. I have a feeling there will be more progressive channels coming. Like another poster said, Stern will have 3 channels. He did major Bush bashing last year. Still mentions the BS the admin is doing now and then. He also promoted Al Franken's book and praised Michael Moore and F911. He urged all his listeners to watch it and to vote for Kerry.

12. Only Liberals PAY for talk-radio ...
Didn't you know?

See, in America Conservatives get free AM and FM radio talk shows and Liberals have to pay for Satellite radio to hear decent or near-decent programming.

There must be a law or decree somewhere that states this clearly because NO ONE bitches or complains about it being unfair or unjust -- which it clearly is-- so it must have come down "from on HIGH" that this is the way it's going to be.
