Prediction: Bush will be at 24% approval by next Monday
Believe it, Bush is in a popularity death spiral. Amazingly, sparked by the dedication of a single strong woman, America's every-Mom, Cindy Sheehan. In just a few weeks she has become more powerful than Bush and it's clear she's destroying him and his support. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to assume that at least half of the Bushbots have a human soul, I've already seen evidence on DU that even hardcore Republicans are beginning to jump ship. He might even be losing Fundie support.

The bottom dropped out last week and I'm calling Checkmate. 24% by next Monday, and only down from there.. That's my guess. I'll eat my shoe if I'm wrong. :)

27. e-voting is different than approval ratings
e-voting is controlled by Diebold and ESS. Approval ratings are conducted by telephone surveys and run by several different independent organizations.

I think what you're trying to say is that no matter how low the approval rating, the neocons can steal the next election.?

3. would you like Ketchup with that leather?
I don't think it will drop that much in a week, unless a full blown civil war breaks out in Iraq, or a large amount of soldiers are killed in Iraq.

25. Yeah, I'll take it with HEINZ ketchup! With Shrub ratings this low,
the time is "ripe" for the general public (re-examination) and FINAL acceptance of the 2000 and 2004 Election Frauds. With an illegitimate President with ratings this low, Shrub may VERY soon be looking for a new job. When people like Chuck Hagel (who use to own one of the Election Machine companies) speaks out against Shrub, the Truth about the Fraud, and Shrub's future job tenure is questionable indeed.

4. Either a "security alert" or a captured Nr.3 Al-Kaida member...
will soon pop up.

(How many Nr.3s does Al-Kaida have?)

Trust me, something will come out of Rove's sleeve.

5. It is a stretch
to assume that at least half of the Bushbots have a human soul--well, maybe not. They may have souls, but it is their minds that are in question. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.

Still, I hope you're right.

I could see 30, and I might buy 27 given his downward momentum. But I think a drop below 25 is a stretch.

Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 11:23 PM by wake.up.america
He will claim some skin related disease, due to clearing brush in the hot sun.

He will bail out for another month sometime in the near future. He will not resign.

He needs to stage some sympathy gaining stunt.
Watch for his father or Barbara Bush to become seriously ill.

Bush will continue to hover at 38%-44% for the next two years, then kick back up to 51% in his final year, as the nostalgia sets in.

12. My guess is that it will not get much lower. I think we are almost
at the base level of Bush's hard core support.

Bush could send federal troops to frisk people for money, watches, security certificates, gold, etc. and still have this support.

13. My guess is the floor is the low twenties
but something REALLY bad like what happened in Ohio would have to happen - a scandal like the one that is killing Taft. Other than that, the floor is high twenties and that is on a BAD day.

30. That's a good comparison
Ohio voting has been very similar to the nation as a whole. If a two-term governor with a strong family pedigree can sink as low as Taft, then Bush can sink that low, too. Not that these people jumping ship aren't going to become Democrats (not all of them, anyway); most will still vote for the next Republican who comes down the pike.

23. Bush just looks like a big chicken afraid of a mom......
His resolve not to be man enough to confront a mother who has lost her sons and wants answers is definitely not good for his numbers.

Hasn't his matron, Ms. Karen "Huge" mentioned that to him yet?
Was that her rapid response at work today?
If so, yeah....Bush is gonna continue having a popularity problem (about goddam time!)

28. 9/11 Anniversary will tell the tale
Bush is going to sing the same lame tune as usual, trying to get a boost off the deaths of 3000+ people. Will the public buy it this time around, or will they continue to be sick of his act?

Either way, I don't expect his approval ratings to stay the same. Either he gets a bump, or he's going way down like you said. Just my opinion.
