"The Pat Robertson Wing of the Republican Party"

Is Pat Robertson considered a mainstream Republican? For the sake of all mainstream Republicans (moderates), I should say I hope not.

I think, because of his latest bizarre on-air indiscretions (of which there have been many), it might be wise to take a page out of the GOP playbook:

Lately, GOP pundits have taken to referring to liberals as the "Michael Moore" wing of the Democratic party, a distncing technique that we can see through, but frames the debate in such a way that the accused party is put on the defensive. There's nothing wrong with Michael Moore; I'm just using this as an example of how the right successfully frames an argument.

Maybe we should start referring to conservatives as the "Pat Robertson" wing of the Republican party, and watch the bastards try to distance themselves.

Most of Bush's admin IS from the Robertson wing of the Republican party but they have such strict control over their message that you rarely see a time when they slip up and actually say what they think.

In addition, I think that we need to start a campaign to bombard the FCC to fine Robertson just like Janet Jackson was fined for exposing herself. What Robertson said was completely inexcusable and his network airs on public television channels, not just cable. We own the airwaves and he needs to be responsible and held accountable for calling for the assisination of a Democratically elected official. He has jeopardized our national security. It would be great if we could start a precedent for future propagandists on Faux & CBN etc...
