Would you be willing to "declare victory" in Iraq to get our soldiers out?
It occurred to me that, if we wanted to give in some to the Chimp, we could just say, "Hey, we got Saddam. Mission Accomplished! Now, let's leave." And it might go a little ways with some of the stupider people in America. It helps them save face for supporting the war.

Would it be worth it to get the troops out of Iraq?

1. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
It doesn't matter what you call it, it is what it is.

Bush has already called it everything but what it is. If he wants to call it victory, he will. He doesn't want the troops out.

2. It's a victory when they declare it is.
And that won't happen until the permanent US military bases are completed; American companies are safely entrenched in Iraq, raping its natural resources; oil is flowing freely again.

5. GWB already has declared victory...
doesn't "Mission Accomplished" ring a bell?

I'm still waiting to see how he's going to flip-flop and pull some of the troops out "sending a wrong message to the enemy" so that the 06 elections get some help.

9. You would think somebody in the administration
would grow a brain & devise a workable strategy otherwise they have no chance in the 06 elections. Realistically, you know they would never acknowledge the monumental errors & miscalculations; however, their original arguments: regime change & WMD's have both been resolved; therefore--viola'--victory may be declared and Bushco may maintain the facade of departing with honor.

8. Imagine if we just did a total 180.
The war has gone MAGNIFICENTLY! The Iraqis are happy, the world is happy, America is safe, our soldiers have finished the job and everything is just hunky-dorey.

Now, it's time to go home.

Would Rush's head explode, you think? I could just hear him: "No, everything is NOT fine in Iraq. Thousands of Iraqis are still being slaughtered, and their Constitution is fascist, etc., etc. Bush has done a horrible job. We must stay."

Even DUers seem to be having a tough time with this one.

11. Bush will call it a victory regardless
The truth will never matter to the right. They can call it whatever the hell they want at this point, because we know they will anyways. We need to find a way to leave, and leave soon for the sake of American and Iraqi lives.
