I Need HELP!!!!
I've been planning to go to D.C. for some time now and thought the plans were being made from my local county, but haven't heard anything positive yet! I live in Sarasota County, FL and have put out an S,O.S to them, but nothing yet. Then I wrote to the St. Pete coalition and they said they didn't have a bus going up and gave me info on a flight out of Tampa. Can't get a reservation! I've been looking forward to this for so long now and I would drive myself, but WHERE TO STAY??? I'm sure every thing's booked!

Any suggestions????

1. When are you going to DC?
And for what purpose? What makes you think everything will be booked?

If you can't see it you probably have your preferences set to not show them. Here is the link to the info on the event:

25. Yes, you should go!!!
If at all possible, I highly recommend it. I am taking the whole week off work for the protest and the events, and to visit some family and friends as well.

I have been to some DC protests before and they have always been an excellent experience.

As for settings: At the top of each forum, there is a series of little icons across the page. One of them says 'Options'. Click on options, and then you'll see a list of things - one of them is 'Edit your preferences'. Click on that, and there will be a list of yes/no questions. One of them will be 'Display Signatures?' Click on the 'Yes' and confirm your change and you should see the signature lines!

Hope that helps!

2. Check your local Quaker meeting
(if there's not one in Tampa, I know there's one in Orlando) For something like this, the Quakers usually line up space for people to stay. You may have to take a sleeping bag and air mattress because a lot of time these spots mean sleeping on the floor. They should have the latest on accomodations, though.

3. Try going into the DC section of DU
See if anyone can direct you there. Also, see if you can get in touch with the local at DC. Since they are on-site, they are (hopefully) a central source for information on where to stay, where to eat, what to do/scheduled events, etc.

10. I DON'T Want To Go ALONE!!!
but unless I get some feed back here or at the D.C. site, looks like that's what's going to happen! I know there will be a lot of DU'ers there, but it would be nice to have somebody else from my area!

If for nothing else but to "cut" Cruella to shreds!

29. Thank you... Maybe Something Will Pop Here....
I checked out a few names and contacted them. Gainesville is 5 hours away, but if that's what it takes, well then so be it.

but I see 1 from Tampa, and one from Clearwater/St. Pete.

Also the Gainesville people put me in touch with someone from my area. Still waiting.

Thanks again!

11. The Peace Train is running down there isn't it?
I'm not sure, since it's going through the south and I'm North I didn't look at the cities...but that would be a big group to travel with at least, until you can meet up with other DU'ers or the Cindy group...

15. there is a bus going from Gainesville, if that's any help
more info: http://www.civicmediacenter.org/news/2005/07/19/12.00.00.htm#more

you wouldn't need to book a room (sleep in transit) and would have (hopefully) plenty of company. I intend to go with this group.
