Proclaiming their pride in President Bush and their support for the war in Iraq, a caravan of Californians stopped in North Texas Friday morning headed to the Bush ranch in Crawford. The group, calling itself Move America Forward, intends to make its views known during a peace rally on Saturday featuring Cindy Sheehan, whose son, Casey, is among the more than 1,800 U.S. casualties of the Iraq conflict.

The Move America Forward caravan consisted of about a dozen people—primarily mothers of military men and women—who say they are committed to supporting America's troops overseas and the president's initiatives to fight terrorism. During a news conference at Union Station in downtown Dallas, military mom Deborah Johns said she feels confused and hurt by recent statements attributed to Sheehan.

Johns said her group—like Sheehan—would like to arrange a meeting with the president. Johns said they would like to congratulate Bush and express their appreciation for his persistence in the war on terrorism.

Yes, absolutely...if she wants to thank and congratulate Bush on the way he's handled the war, AND she lost her son, it makes a difference.

That's another aspect of the Bush "legacy"...mom vs. mom.

Move America Forward is probably footing the bill for this one (same group that did PR and advance work for the Swift Boat Liars), and the curious thing is that the group they've put together is apparently new for this little trek to Texas, and is sort of variation on a theme. Johns is associated with a group called "Marine Moms and Military Families," which seems to predate this latest group, which is called, "Northern California Marine Moms."

Apparently, Johns is an old hand at supporting Bush:

SACRAMENTO (AP) - The anti-war message a suburban couple hung below the rafters of their home was meant to be provocative: It's a soldier's uniform, complete with helmet and gloves, and the sign "Bush Lied. I Died," painted in black and white.

Since Stephen and Virginia Pearcy put up the display, it has been vandalized twice and put up again. Police are investigating the vandalism reports as well as a claim by a military mother that the display should be investigated as a hate crime.

"It's a message of dissent over the war in Iraq," Stephen Pearcy said. "The soldiers are being left out to hang" under misguided American policy paid for with U.S. tax dollars.

Deborah Johns of Roseville, co-founder of Marine Moms and Military Families, asked police to investigate the Pearcy display. "My son wears that uniform every day. It's an insult to hang it up like that."

Did Cindy REALLY say "the true freedom fighters are the ones that are fighting against our men and women over there in Iraq?"

I find that a little hard to swallow...

It IS a "pretty twisted statement to make," especially in light of the fact that Cindy probably never made it.
