What will be the political repercussions of Katrina?
Usually, the president can come out looking better after a big disaster. It gives him a chance to show that he's a strong leader. Michael Bilandic lost his job as mayor of Chicago because he was on vacation during a big snow storm in his city and didn't act fast enough and didn't show empathy. This created all kinds of political problems for him.

How do you think Bush will come out after this disaster?

3. Considering the cuts that Bush made to disaster planning & FEMA budget,

he should be drawn and quartered.

But since 2001, key federal disaster mitigation programs, developed over many years, have been slashed and tossed aside. FEMA's Project Impact, a model mitigation program created by the Clinton administration, has been canceled outright. Federal funding of post-disaster mitigation efforts designed to protect people and property from the next disaster has been cut in half. Communities across the country must now compete for pre-disaster mitigation dollars.

election. If things go badly in New Orleans, it will be alot harder for him to cover it up, or control the news, though. Most folks have at least heard of New Orleans so there will be alot of interest because of the cities history...and so many folks there and along the coast.

But, it's hard to say what will happen. At this point does anyone really expect compassion from him? His Freeper voters and supporters love it when he's tough and gives "the finger" to folks. I worry that the oil and gas hikes will now be blamed on Katrina and not on Bush's policies. Other than that...

9. He cut $$ to study how to protect New Orleans from a cat.5 hurricane,
So he shouldn't come up smelling like roses on this one.

11. Like the rat bastard who sent the Guard off for lies, leaving the homeland
without them and their resources at times like this. Make LOTS of noise about the Guard being shorthanded due to his war built on lies!

12. As I said in
another post in Breaking News. You can bet your ass Bush will be all over the tv come Monday and Tuesday and for that matter, all week. He will make a trip down there to show his fake compassion...The people will reconize exactly what this is. Just like they reconized this when his old daddy went to Florida in 92.... Bush the Smarter was getting his ass beat in the polls by Clinton and he wanted a photo op because he needed to play the part of President.... Bush the Dumber, needs a photo op as well because of falling poll numbers down around 35. Folks are smarter and will not take kindly to his sorry ass down on the coast delaying much needed work to help those folks so he can walk around and act like he really really cares.... Maybe he should heed his own advice and get on with his life, cause really no one gives a chit......

13. Probably....
...how fit, tanned and rested scumbag looked when he was making his "help is on the way" bullshit speech. (I remember when he said the same words during the 2000 campaign before he sent my military into a meat grinder).

14. need to scream about politically-biased FEMA cuts from rooftops
We know why this is worse than it had to be and why far more than had to are going to die.

Maybe a demonstration orsomething is the only way to get the issue anywhere near the media, but it's rather probable that the message will be grossly misrepresented and that it'll do nothing but provide a pretext for another military assault on peaceful demonstrators.

There are no more outlets to deliver the message.
