I am sure there is more out there along these lines. All the freepers prayers in the world can't wash the blood off his hands.
Bush's budget cuts disaster preparedness fundingWhen President George W. Bush sent his proposed 2002 budget to Congress yesterday afternoon, there was a glaring omission. The president decided to pull funding for FEMA's Project Impact, effectively ending the disaster-preparedness campaign
which since 1997 has given $25 million per year to communities across the country for disaster mitigation, saying the project "has not proven effective."
The project, which began as a pilot program in 1997 with 7 communities, has since grown to include over 250 communities.
Both King and Pierce counties have received significant funding from the FEMA grant, using the funds to emphasize home and small business preparedness and transportation reliability in the event of an earthquake or other disaster.
