Poll question: What should pay its own way?

Our wingnut neighbors frequently (but selectively) claim "Such and such a program should pay for itself."

Their latest craze is the idea that the National Parks should pay for themselves, which (presumably) could be done by trapping the wildlife for fur, digging in the mountains for minerals, and selling choice lots for condos.

While I personally disagree with this approach to National Parks, perhaps some things really should pay for themselves ...
