Katrina's damage would be good reason to bring troops home
Smart Republicans must be looking for a way out of Bush's Debacle in Iraq. Wouldn't Katrina give Bush a great excuse for bringing the troops home now rather than later? Wouldn't it be win-win for everyone? We need these capable men and women home now. The Iraqis don't appreciate them. The people of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the other states devastated by Katrina sure would. I hope our side will spin the solution to Bush's debacle that way.

I've tended to think that we should stay in Iraq because we made a mess and we have an obligation to clean it up. But now that we have a mess in our own house, seems to me we need to clean that up first.

2. That goes to show you.
Everyone wants to get out of there. This is Bush's chance. If he blows it, he will be very sorry.

3. And, frankly, if OUR DEMS don't get out in front of this, THEY are
blowing it, too, and they deserve to be VERY sorry.

This is a PERFECT opportunity. PERFECT!!!

In fact, I just called Barbara Boxer's office and suggested it.

BTW - if ANY of you has a Senator who's a Dem and who is NOT up for reelection next year, that's a seat that is not at risk at the moment (Barbara just got another six-year lease extension last November - and by FAR larger margins than bush supposedly did), and therefore, it's safe to stick his/her neck out.

NOW IS THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. Not to mention the money
it could be put to use rebuilding Louisiana and Mississippi.
