There are now 58 co-sponsors on Barbara Lee's Resolution of Inquiry into the Downing Street Memos, including one Republican member of the International Relations Committee, Jim Leach. If your Representative isn't on this list yet, please call their D.C. office (202-224-3121) and ask to speak to the Legislative Director. BTW - while you're at it, if you're calling your own congressperson about this, URGE them to make a stink about the DAMNED bush funding cuts to the Army Corps of Engineers projects to shore up the levees against a (then-)possible Category Five hurricane. And demand that they call for our National Guard to be brought back from Iraq because THEY'RE NEEDED HERE!!! And you might add this: "I defy ANYBODY in Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama, or ANYWHERE else in 'Hurricane Country' to tell you they're 'safer now.'"

17. Like it would do any good for me to contact Joe Barton (R TX).

I so envy people with real representation. Not just those who have Democratic reps, but those who have a rep that will actually hear what they say.

I met Joe at a shin dig for major law firm in Dallas. He was going from table to table schmoozing. Got to our table and someone asked him what it took to be a good representative. He replied,"Beat Democrats!" I said,"Gee, I would have thought it might have something to do with governance and representing your constituency."

He immediately left the table and my wife won't let me attend those parties anymore . . .
