Bush better rethink "not sending in Military" or we will make him
accountable to all those people who will be victims of crime. The American Military would fly into Trafalgar square if 40 American Nascar wives were in danger of a mob and/or needed rescue.

Not solving the criminal mob issue tonight by invoking the war act means Bush needs the mobs as a smoke screen. The bigger crisis to hide the negligence in cutting back on Levy funding.

1. Crime mob...
Is this the group I mnistakenly referred to as "some looters"?

I know it's been done to death, but I want people to know I don't think taking food is wrong. Arming oneself to victimize fellow hurricane survivors is.

4. LA Times reported that two people, one child, were raped in the Astrodome.
That's all I need to hear. I care not one whiff about property. This is life.

10. The mp3 has a cop saying nothing like the looting described is happening
He's saying that people are calm, orderly, nobody's shooting at anyone, and that the police themselves commandeered the supplies from the abandoned stores and sanctioned the refugees utilizing them, and so on.

7. Other states are sending National Guard troops.
Illinois is sending 300. That is not many, but it is 300 more than they had.

13. No. She would have to request "mutual aid" from other governors
Similar to different jurisdictions of cities and counties requesting additional cops or firefighters from each other in an emergency. It's called "mutual aid" and it's done by request.

As for those overseas, I'm quite sure they have passed beyond the jurisdiction of any governor in the US and "belong" to the Pentagon.

Btw, it's "martial law" meaning military; not "marshal law" meaning sheriff. Military law is a lot bigger deal -- it is not the same kind of law we are used to in civilian life. (don't take the correction personally -- I've read the same thing innumerable times on DU this past week)
