GOP politicizes the tragedy
Having lived in New Orleans for three years, and having dozens of friends and in-laws wo are suffering from the impact of Katrina, I tried to avoid saying much of anything about this tragedy.

Then along came Congressman Jeb Bradley.

Did Jeb offer words of comfort for the suffering? Nope. Did he issue a plea for aissistance? Nope. Did he simply ask us all to pray for thise in need? Nope.

His first public words were a press release kissing up to the White House for releasing resources from the strategic petroleum reserve.

Here's my blog posting on Jeb's release:

Jeb Bradley's warped values

Down in New Orleans, scores of people are dead, hundreds of thousands are homeless, and one of America's greatest cities faces a monumental rebuilding task.

But what does Jeb Bradley find time to talk about?

The flow of petroleum.

No mention of the people who are suffering. No words of comfort. No sense of decency.

Nice set of priorities you have there, champ. We'll talk about this next year.

1. Yup....and yet, we STILL get threads like THESE:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2049254&mesg_id=2049254

On a Democratic message board. Methinks the GOP would never counsel restraint on their own counterparts in this manner.

2. But wait, there's more!
The GOP drones have discovered the post, and are defending the indefensible. In typically Rovian fashion, they forget who actually tried to use the tragedy for spin purposes:

Way to politicize a humanitarian crisis, Sullivan. You're such a pathetic jackass, I can't wait to see Bradley dismantle you in the general election next year. Oh, nevermind, you probably won't make it out of your primary...

This says everything you need to know about the ethics of the Bradley camp. Use a national tragedy as an excuse to spin for the White House, then whine and slime when someone calls them on the carpet. Sad.

3. So pointing out that your opponent "politicized a crisis..."

is also "politicizing a crisis?"

Republicans spin so much it's a wonder they're not constantly vomiting.
