Anderson Cooper...if we knew 2 days in advance that there was
going to be a military attack on this area, wouldn't we have prepared for it?

4. As sad as I am watching this catastrophe
the destruction of life, families, communities, America has finally got a good look at how their own fellow citizens have be treated by their government.
This is the end of neo-liberal policies -Bush is fucked. This lack of humanity in the so-called first world has stunned the world. You have no idea of the comments from ordinary people in my part of the world.

Put simply, this has never happened in Cuba - they put people first.

9. The talk shows are full of angry people
saying that Bush is a racist. Most people here believe that if NO was white this would not happen. I'm not sure since Biloxi people aren't faring much better, it's just that they don't have the floods.
Some have raised the imperial ambitions of your government and suggested that the way this has been dealt with suggests that the government is worst than most of our developing country governments when disaster strikes. There is much anger and lots of pain as others are just crying on air suffering with other humans and most want to help in some way.

Oh everyone is attacking Bush.

20. Bush should resign
and it's important to remember that the men and women in Congress were no better. Everyone should have been back in Washington Sunday morning. It's not as if they couldn't see the size of the storm or could not hear the experts.

19. No kidding!
There may be hope. There also may be equally angry people calling American talk shows - attacking bush HERE, too.

Let's hope. I haven't been near a radio lately. Just the TV - when I'm not here on DU. It's gratifying to hear that the truth is out, and being NOTICED.

"Bush 'Criminally Insane'"

Maybe cause it's so true!

Welcome to DU!

"So Bush ended a week overcome with Bush's stupid optimism and a call for patience with respect to America’s military mission in Iraq, all which goes to show that his vision cannot be reconciled with reality."

8. But we didn't know airplanes could be used as missiles to hit
buildings so how on earth could we have known this might happen (notwithstanding this DUer has known since Camille what a major hurricane might do were it to strike New Orleans in a perfect-storm scenario.)

12. Apparently...
...Ms. Landreau was engaging in a rush of Washington happy talk and Cooper let her have it with both barrels.

I don't blame him. Fuck the happy talk, there is no excuse for this debacle and anyone trying to minimize it should hang their head in shame.
