Guess What Those Godless Commies Down in Cuba Did Today?
One minute of silence in Cuba for Katrina victims

HAVANA (Reuters) - Cuba's parliament, led by President Fidel Castro, set aside politics momentarily on Thursday and stood for one minute in silent homage to the victims of Hurricane Katrina -- before quickly returning to normal business and condemning the U.S. occupation of Iraq.

"The whole world should feel that this tragedy is its own," National Assembly speaker Ricardo Alarcon said.

"The news pained and saddened Cubans. In their name, we wish to express our profound solidarity with the people of the United States, state and local authorities and the victims of this catastrophe," Alarcon added.

2. Meanwhile, our very own
Rush Limbaugh vilifies our victims. Who said irony is dead.

Our enemies are more compassionate than some of our most listened to and respected ( :puke: ) pundits.

Says a lot, doesn't it?

5. Good point.
But then Rush is pond scum.

Y'know, sometimes I do wish there was life after death, if only so I could witness folks like Limpballs, Boosh and Shamey roasting on Satan's spit.

6. If I am not mistaken, and I could be, but...
I think President Carter was the only President to offer assistence to Cuba. Seems I remember reading that somewhere... It happened while he was trying to find a way to "normalize" relations with Cuba.

I don't remember Clinton ever offering, but he could have, certainly.

8. According to Castro " it would be against Cuba's "honour"...
"...to receive aid from the United States, a political foe since Castro's 1959 revolution."

16. Yes. Bush offered $50,000 after Dennis took out central Cuba.
It wiped out the core of central Cuba's aged electrical system.
Bush admin offered $50,000.
Cuba refused to take Bush's blood money.

4. Thanks, Commies!
I get the feeling that they mean it..

The fascists here in America want to blame the victims ..all they do is give them cruel taunts.

7. Maybe I am overcome with revulsion re NO but
when it comes to simple humanity anymore does the "Third World" out class us every time?
Question: When I was a tyke in the 60's putting a dollar in the pass around church basket, did the money really feed starving kids in Africa or did it just help some jerk spread religion to hungry people? Were we less full of religious purpose and more humanitarian then or is my memory just full of Lassie episodes?

10. Very touching
That and that the impoverished, tsunami devastated people of Sri Lanka are planning to offer aid for Katrina survivors.

No wonder I so often feel so grounded having visited 3rd world countries.

Things are so basic in some ways.

14. Look who it is
placing petty delusion over humanity. Empty words, backed up by the fact that they actually HELP their people when a crisis comes. We do the OPPOSITE. Empty, indeed...:eyes:

15. Actually there have been studies that showed
that prayer helped people, even if they didn't know they were being prayed for. And even if the people praying didn't really know much about the person being prayed for.

I don't have a citation. But to be clear, I'm not a religious fanatic.

I came upon this in the reading of the mind/body connection regarding health.

13. Well, Bush did a fly-over during his vacation.
We should be applauding Bush's tremendous performance. Just because his environmental and economical policies were directly responsible for the disaster doesn't mean we shouldn't give him a one-finger salute for his fly-over.
