Thought comes that America's advances have always come thru black citizens
if bush is to be impeached it will be through the black citizens of
New Orleans and what is happening to them - unfortunately it may be through their deaths....which I imagine FEMA/HS and those plicks are
going to try to cover up.

At least Mayor Ray Nagin is a truthteller..

1. American culture is built on African-American roots . . .
without Louis Armstrong and other black musicians, American music, for example, would not be . . . not jazz, not rock, not blues, not any of it . . .

2. I'm talking about the civil rights movement advances and riots that
called the countries attention to the biases...which created laws against bias.

Those kind of advances - social societal advances.

Impeachng bush would be a societal advance not only for this country
but for the world ---and their mistreatment in New Orleans, once again displays the unmistakable dirty underbelly of our government that no one can ignore.

3. You might be right...
... about the societal advances, no question about it. Dr King is the American Ghandi, after all.

But as I read your original post, the name Charles Drew, father of the Blood Bank, came to mind. It seems rather ironic that the invention which, more than any other single factor, saved the lives of countless soldiers during WWII, was created by a Black American who would, in all probability, have been (pardon the expression) blackballed -- barred from membership -- by any club belonged to by Presidential Father and Grandfather Prescott Bush.

I have this vision of Dr Drew leading the charge to depose the current "President" from his mobile clinic in the heart of New Orleans.

6. I agree 100%
And unfortunately the despicable history history of the government has been to fight African-American folks from having the human dignity of basic rights and equality.

This is why I've always been an admirer of Malcolm X, and the Black Panther Party. They IMO had the right ideas of holding a mirror up in the faces of the oppressor, and made no bones about defending themselves.

Here's a good video documentary about the Black Panther Party:

And here's a good Democracy Now program honoring Malcolm X:

4. I believe you are correct.
As i read history, the entire public school system grew out of black slaves yearning to read and write and starting their own schools. During that time only the children of wealthy landed-gentry were schooled and mostly men. And that is just one example.
