20 CHINOOK HELICOPTERS, they fly as fast as 195 mph
44 people per trip.
9000 pounds of cargo / load
45 minutes in, 45 minutes out.
30 minutes refueling - loading on water/food etc.

20 x 44 = 880 people out of the city, every two hours.

the hurricane was over and we knew where people were on monday, so say monday at 9 pm until now. thats approx. 74 hours.

that's 32,560 people we could have air lifted out in that span of time.

its also 333,000 pound of water food medical supplies in.

this is such an error in everything,

edit for spelling

and the research on the load/weight for chinooks, in 2 mins.

Are we saying a half ass competent plan that takes two minutes is too much for this crew?

5. You are assuming
that any plan they might make has as it's primary objective saving the lives of NO citizens. It does not.

Their plan here was to spend the least amount of money possible while doing just enough to look like they tried. That, coupled with their inability to believe that sometimes things really ARE as bad as the scientists and local pols make them out to be, really bit them on the ass.

They cannot explain away their indifference this time. This time, people died as a direct result of their apathy. The sight of Americans perched on rooftops screaming for help that doesn't come, Americans desperately trying to keep their badly dehydrated babies alive 3 DAYS after the storm passed, American bodies floating down New Orleans streets while simultaneously the FEMA director proclaims the situation is under control, this time people will remember. And they will demand answers. Finally.

I hope.

4. You're missing the point:
There aren't 32,000 wealthy white republicans in NO, so why waste the fuel? :sarcasm:
