Is Republican hatred of Democrats causing the lack of response in NO?
This Administration is famous for political paybacks against Democrats regardless of the consequences. Do you think Bush is withholding help from New Orleans and Louisiana because the elected officials are Democrat?

That would be a violation of the equal protection clause of the Constitution, but Bush doesn't particularly care about the Constitution.

Anybody have stats on which states are getting what from the feds?

1. I thought of that, except that it also had to be incompetence because
the port and pipeline was vulnerable.

2. I don't know
But their response has been so slow and stingy, you can't help but think that it was on purpose.

5. FL (Jeb's State) got $14.7 billion last (election) year
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 07:27 AM by leveymg
This morning Congress allocated only $10 billion, which needs to be split between LA, MS, AL, TX and FL (again).

6. KNowing Bush's Past.
If you read up on Bush you will know he has a very racist background.

In my heart I know that a conversation happened in where they asked who was stranded, and a one or all of the following things were said...

1 "They did not vote for me anyway, so I am not going to lose any support"

2 "They are all low class blacks, they won't be missed"

3 "We are doing NO a favor"

11. "Is Republican hatred of Democrats causing the lack of response in NO?"
I believe that is certainly a huge factor. I do. But, there are other things Republicans hate, and they are present in NO, too:

Poor people -- what a drain on their ability to offer bigger and better tax cuts to their rich friends, donors, and relatives.

Black and Brown People -- Just a bunch of "Welfare Queens" who procreate like rabbits. And, have you seen the way they choose to live? They, alone, are a reason to keep healthcare private... if it was universal, they'd just drag it down.

"Roving 'gangs' of looters" -- Just lawless. Disgusting. If it were legal, we could shoot them dead for taking those diapers for their babies. And, where did they get all those guns? Note to Ken Melhman: Get with the NRA, and see if they are willing to back a bill making it possible for only white Republicans to own guns. Note to Dennis Hastert and Bill Frist: Get off your asses and pass some laws making it legal to shoot these looters NOW. Get Congress back in session today, This can't wait another minute.

Republicans are the Party of hate. They are the Party of hoplessness. They are the Party of wanton criminality. They are the Party of Rich White Folks. Don't ever forget the images you see on your TV screens right now. Those people are suffering and dying because of their color, their economic status, their lack of education, and for the purpose sociological engineering. The Republicans are "culling the herd". And, when they are done with New Orleans, there will be no one left there to rise up and vote against them for their criminality. It's called an "Elegant Solution" -- a solution that gets rid of many problems with one action.

What we are seeing here is a Republican Party "Elegant Solution" with an eye to Social engineering. For them, the fact that these people are probably Democratic voters is just gravy.
