They have found a scapegoat. LA governor Blanco (D)!

They (repugs) are saying that Bushturd's hands are tied unless the governor formally requests federal help. She hasn't done so - that's at least the implication of it. Trying to blame Turdboy's second "deer in the headlights" moment on a democrat. Typical. I hate these people. I hate them. They deserve to be prosecuted. I've had enough. Impeachment as soon as the people are erscued. Impeach the bastard.

there will plenty of blame to go around but a huge heap of it will land on bush's doorstep and he won't be able to blame his way out of it

5. HAHAHA
then we have an image of bush at crawford riding a bike saying "i know it's coming, but she hasn't called me yet, so fuck it!" YEAH THAT IS A GOOD EXCUSE! He is a worse leader than ever then, he should have been on the phone saying: "You are gonna need our help, fill out that form."

SOrry, that avenue won't work.

6. Been saying all week she is getting the Gray Davis Treatment from BUSHCO
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 10:49 AM by havocmom
Remember the Calif energy crisis? Blackouts in hot weather which led to some elderly dying? Remember the tapes of ENRON employes laughing about 'Grandma Millie'? Remember the recall? The govenor to be in a hotel meeting with ENRON officials?

I remember and will keep reminding others. Join me. BUSHCO lets people die if they have a DEM governor, then blames the governor. SOP

Blaming Blanco is just same shit, different DEM.

I also noted they were saying all the Guards from other states coming to LA would be HER responsibility. Hmmmm, can you say 'set up like a bowling pin'?

edits: typos

7. What Are The Responsibilities
Of the governor, the local (city/county) officials, etc.

Who calls up the national guard? Who is responsible for an evacution plan? Who is responsible for coordination between local officials (as in New Orleans to other cities, counties, etc)

In a disaster of this magnitude, who is responsible for getting water into the city?

I think maybe everyone thought everyone else was responsible. And no one did anything.

The end for the Republicans is near.

Everybody knows now, nobody in this country is save with Bush in charge.

Bush1 blamed GOV Chiles of FL the same way when he was criticised for not responding fast enough. Bush1 still was blamed. Here it's even clearer because it IS a multistate disaster and the states were declared a disaster area.

32. GHWB toured the LA riots aftermath riding in a limosine !
I always thought the pics of that alone caused his to lose the '92 election.

Needless to say, when the NYTimes stops giving 'official cover' and editorializes on the non-leadership on display, our fearless 'leader' is a complete lack of inspiration...

We're on our own people. Get used to it. Grover Norquist has won.

17. There's plenty of blame to go around.
Same thing I said in the "how dare they say anything bad about Nagin" thread.

The NG in Louisiana could have bee mobilized on Saturday. Evacuation could have started before. The state's not helpless or stripped of responsibility for its own citizens. Neither's the city of New Orleans.

There'll be lots of time to figure out who could have done what to minimize the disaster, and it should most definitely be done, without being partisan, *if* we actually care about avoiding problems the next time it happens. But I'm sure people on both sides will seize on specific acts that weren't done, even though others could have also acted to minimize the damage, because *that* is what's really important.

Should be an interesting lawnchair and popcorn opportunity. I just hope people don't waste time with it this week. Or next.

26. Why Didn't She Request Help Saturday?
Ask for help accomodating NOLA evacuees?

Why didnt' they send in buses to get out people who wanted to leave but couldn't?

the federal response is dismal, but why didn't local & state authorities have a plan in place before hand? They knew the worst case scenarios.

I think there is plenty of blame to go around, but if she doesn't want to be a scapegoat, she better have answers, and she better hit back - hard and fast.

and I'll bet he didn't do the same with Blanco. If I were president and saw this horror unfolding, I'd be on the phone offering all the resources these people needed, rather than playing a juvenile and very deadly game of whining, "Well she didn't aaassssk."
