1. NOMINATED
I'm not up to "heart wrenching" right now, but I'm certainly bookmarking it.

2. The Mayor telling it like it is
I especially like how he called for an end to the photo-ops and press conferences until all the assistance had arrived.

4. Let's make this guy more popular than Rudy!
I cried a lot after that speech. It gave me a renewed faith that some politicians actually give a damn!

5. YES! kick: you've got it: lost his ability to communicate....only bad
can be said about him now. If anything could be done to get him a voice, then that's where energy needs to be focused.

7. He is NOT a politician, which is why he speaks from his heart
He has not held elective office before becoming Mayor...

16. The mayor
has more balls than the administration to tell it like it is. If he gets flack for it. I will call every god damn Senator, Congressman, or the WH. Now get the God Damn help for them that they need. Not the help that bush wants them to have. Day 5 this is a bunch of shit.

17. Hey, give the guy a break, he just lost the city he loves...
I would be angry and unhappy too if the city I was mayor of was destroyed and the powers that be did not help before or after. We sit in our nice comfortable chairs and post negative things about a man who is confronted with seeing New Orleans fall completely appart, where he can not get them the water, the food the shelter they need so badly.

Leave him alone, he has a right to his grief and anger.

20. He left town...
not willing to go down with the ship I guess. He hemmed about directly blaming either the governor or Bush...problem is Governors are in charge of ordering National Guard....not the President. The feds are fema, money, and the army if necessary....Blancos argument that some of the guard are in Iraq doesn't explain why she didn't line the rest up to help BEFOREHAND. Unfortunately she underestimated. Now she's screaming at the police and guard to shoot on site....great. If she had had enough people present in the beginning we wouldn't be hearing death threats. Bush....is a whole other issue, don't get me started.

on AAR and I recorded it. At the end both the mayor and the local interviewer broke down and cried. I cried with them.
