Clark has no role in the government. He, like others extended sympathy to the people involved. He spoke out and said Bush was doing a poor job. He has no forces to call out, no agencies he can redirect to deal with it. What would you do?

Kerry is a US Senator, who was in Iraq assessing the situation - with no press - which is part of his job as a member of the SFRC.

He and Sen Landrieau wrote a letter and senta letter to ask that small business get an additional 6 months to put in disaster laon applications (the deadline was Oct 28 - far too short for devasted businesses) - if agreed to, this helps real people victimized by the storm.

He wrote and send emails to his constituents and to the JohnKerry.com mailing list. They gave links to organizations helping victims and extended his (and Teresa's) sympathies. Teresa also donated money.

He also has no armies or agencies to send out. His office also apparently did not want to disclose that he was in Iraq till he was back - I assume for his safety. I assume we will hear his comments on both Iraq and Katrina over time.
