about Hillary, that she "can't win." I don't know if she's going to run, but why so many DUers ape GOP talking points about her is beyond me.

Other polls shows Hillary doing well, too, much better than Kerry, for instance. I haven't seen any with Clark (whom I like a lot).

11. Actually I have seen no match ups with Clark

and the last one I saw with hillary/McCain had a Kerry/ McCain too - they were nearly identical. One of them was one point higher - which is not significant. The polls where Hillary is shown ahead of Kerry are primary type polls of who do you want to win.

This is also way to early. Also, both Kerry and Hillary have been thoroughly examined by the other side and their negatives are known.

Guilliani has many negatives that no one outside NY seems to know. Telling the press you are divorcing your wife to marry your mistress BEFORE you tell your wife, should cut into the number of votes he gets from women and it will be hard to be the values candidate.

McCain is thought to be a clean campaign champion - but has a Pac, that is suppose to be about clean campaigns that received about $200,000 from CableVision (before he supported a measure that was of benefit to them in the Senate) - but it is really about promoting McCain , skirting McCain/ Feingold. He was also one of the Keating 5 S&L scandal. That and being a maverick is compromised when you kiss and hug Bush as often as he does.

Both of them will likely have their negatives raised by their primary. Kerry would likely have his negatives go down - because they always have when people see him, which they would in a primary season if he is winning. (if he's not, his negatives don't matter) Hillary's negatives and positives are hard to predict, because her current stature seems built on her connection to Bill and star status more than her accomplishments or positions.

Clark has the advantage of possibly being a new face, while having learned from 2004. He was in the primary for such a short time that there are probably many (in the general public) who have no real memory of his campaign.

The pollsters won't include Clark in any head-to-head matchups.

And as I've said all along, the problem isn't that Hillary "can't win." She could win a narrow electoral college victory with all the blue states + Ohio or Florida.

But she would mobilize the right-wing base en masse, especially in red states - - and Democratic candidates further down the ticket would feel that sting in the red states.

Hillary could be elected president...but there's no way in hell we'd ever see a Democratic U.S. Senate majority elected alongside her in '08.
