To my fellow human beings who are also taxpayers and US citizens in New Orleans and other devastated areas, please accept my apologies for voting for George W. Bush in 2000. I am partially responsible for the low level of humanity and compassion that exists in the White House today. I promise to do my best to never be so uninformed again. I promise to do my best to never fall for a Karl Rove marketing "character assassination" ploy again. I promise to never be so comfortable about life that I live with indifference.

Never, in this lifetime, did I ever think I'd see such a high level of incompetence in response to such a tragic event. It's time to admit that "Homeland Security" is nothing more than a failure and a way to implement bogus Patriot Act laws on an unsuspecting public.

And Editor, if at all possible, please do not put my letter in the paper on the same day that either O'Reilly or Coulter are running. I just don't think my stomach can handle it.

but I live in a Repuke mining town and the only way my vote could count during primaries a few years ago was to change to Repuke. I was Repuke for about 5 years. I feel for Bush's straight-shooting image, you know the one Rove grooms for him? I knew I fucked up the morning of 9-11 ...I've been back in the fold ever since, with deep regrets for that one vote ...

7. I will also come clean.

I never voted Republican and never would have, but my crime is that I didn't bother voting AT ALL until the 2002 election. Further, I allowed my and my wife's voting registration forms to go unprocessed because we chose to turn them in to a young couple who were obvious dems, but who were working for the agency that destroyed thousands of dem registrations in Nevada in 2004. Because of that, she didn't get to vote at all, and I had to drive all over hell and back to find my new polling station for my old address.

There is so much more I could have done, but I was too self-absorbed, until the age of 33, to even try. Please forgive me as well.
