Action Item: Why the HELL aren't our flags ordered to half staff?
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 07:15 AM by KyndCulture
Write and call your reps, write to your news papers and to the national news organizations today.

This is a despicable disgrace. Yes it is an empty gesture, but goddammit, in this country it is a sign of national mourning and respect and if we aren't a nation in mourning what the hell are we?

I'm pissed about this.

What do you guys think? I think this is just another sign of disrespect to our dead, dying and injured.

1. You are right, but those flags should already have been at half staff for
our dead soldiers in Iraq.

5. Re: Lowering Flag, From: K Rove
Please do nothing to call attention to a disaster response that will make us look bad.

When asked tell reporters that we are satisfied with our response but not the results. If a reporter continues to press you in a negative way, give us the name and we WILL fuck him, Fuck Him, FUCK HIM! Like he has NEVER been Fucked before!

6. According to the flag law -
"The President shall order the flag to be flown at half staff in times of national tragedy and upon the death of dignitaries foreign and domestic."

So this one's on Bush too...

My own personal feelings of flag waving aside (cause I hate it) but this is a law in our country and it is an accepted traditional sign of respect and mourning.

7. What If Terrorists Had Blown Up The Levee
instead of a hurricane destroying it.

Then, the flags would be at half staff and these people would be getting help. Then we could feel defiantly proud of our country, "You can't knock us down." Even quietly patriotic liberals would be cheering at flag wavers. We would have been angry at some one else, not our government.

and Dubya would get to strut around like this great war time president talking about bombing another country.

8. Why? Just a couple of thousand poor folks died. You don't lower the flag
for that? :sarcasm: Bush has absolutely no compassion for anyone. He has to be told how to act compassionate. He has to arrange special press events to make him look compassionate. He doesn't care and never will. His administration has learned that and will not act compassionately either. Compassion is weakness to bush. Hang on folks, the next three years are only going to be worse.
