Could we fund our military with charitable contributions ?

Since some people would like to see the taxrate at zero, is it possible we could get enough funds to provide for the military? Since it appears these folks believe the people are capable of providing everything through charity and contributions, is this a possibility? I'm about getting tired of paying taxes at all. Seriously.
