I mean, really. Obviouslt the term 'white trash' does not have the same horrific resonance in our national discourse as the one I have chosen NOT to use above, but I think it's often used in a similar manner as the N-word was 50 years ago. Casually, as if it is acceptable and a self-evidently valid description of people.
