2. I don't see how they can be blamed.........
they were screaming for help on every avenue open to them. Just because they didn't dot all their I's and cross their T's doesn't mean a damned thing. The nation knew they needed all the help they could get, why didn't bush? Oh yeah, he was at a birthday party strumming his new guitar. :eyes:

4. And say, for the sake of (lame) argument, they did drop the ball.
Why didn't Bush pick it up?

Isn't he a "bold, decisive leader"? Isn't he "the war president," the guy who doesn't wait for a permission slip before acting?

Either way, the Bush apologists don't have a leg to stand on.

Not that that will stop them from spewing their garbage anyway. :eyes:

3. My talking point
Republicans have been saying they wanted to shrink the budget of the federal government to the point that it would drown in a bathrub.

Last Monday it did.

5. * and Brown!
* waited until Thursday to release the out of state National Guard which were on the ground only waiting for orders. This smacks of an incompetence of the level that should be impeachable. * failed to uphold his oath of office to "promote the general welfare" and "provide for the common defense". He has endangered people at home to fight a needless war in Iraq.

Brown was doing gawd only knows what, while people died. No help for evacuation. No support for evacuees. No food and water for those stranded at collection points. No healthcare for the sick and dying. No sanitary facilities. Nothing was done until Thursday and *only when* the situation descended into near chaos.

But one has to commend the people of NOLA who, in the face of all this adversity, stood tall and maintained control. They should be the honored ones.

6. I liked the mayor's approach myself
not so much talking points as one big loud sincere expletive littered rant.

Those poor people will be blamed over my dead and smouldering body. The mayor has been through hell trying to get help for his people. He's a better man than anyone in this administration.

7. Here's Kevin Drum's chronology of decisions and cuts that led to this
disaster -- http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2005_09/007023.php

Save it, we'll need this to attack the Righties.

11. Soon It Will All Be Covered Over With Stardust...
Also, beware of their media--as soon as Bush flips one single crumb to one single peon, their entire media will stop criticizing, and it will become yet another one of those Soviet-like moments, where none of this even exists, none of it ever happened, "it took a little while because no one predicted this, but once President Bush's orders were carried out, help arrived and the people were so grateful and happy," and God help anyone who tries to refer back to the truth. ANOTHER smear campaign...

12. We don't need to mirror the GOP language. We have nothing to learn
from them.

We just have to speak the truth.
