1. I'm with ya...
and that's what I want to see a president looking like in a crisis, sweaty and looking like he gives a damn, and not in pressed khakis and button down shirts, looking like he just left the 9th hole at his golf club...

35. I disagree...
That sweat is real, and came from working his ass off in the humidity and heat. He has given his all for his fellow human beings. What is in his heart as this picture is taken overrides outward appearance.

That is possibly the best picture of Al Gore I have ever seen or could have imagined.

You go, Al!

10. He didn't have a White House staff to build a Potemkin levee repair
attempt, like bush did -- http://www.fromtheroots.org/story/2005/9/3/19542/97952

Touring this critical site yesterday with the President, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe. Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a Presidential photo opportunity; and the desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment. The good and decent people of southeast Louisiana and the Gulf Coast – black and white, rich and poor, young and old – deserve far better from their national government.

Gore is a real leader, not a f-rated actor playing the part.

That is a picture of a beautiful man who holds true compassion for the people of America. NEVER forget that satan is often seen in a pretty package. That is the evil and allure. Turn away from the stench of pretty packages and see the true worth of individual's whose spirit and aura are absolutely breathtaking ... Gore IS one gorgeous man! :loveya:

Do you think someone of the likes Paris Hilton (and her lap dog) could lead such an effort? :puke:

It's a much better looking pic than any politician looking crisp and starched in these circumstances, and especially * with his fake photo op. (and some I've seen of Al when he had no excuse. Sorry, Al fans. But we shouldn't judge a person's heart by their ability to pose for the camera anyway.)

15. He's sweating, no make up, no boots or ranch. He's NOT presidential
He's not surrounded by guards and isn't even using a teleprompter. And where's his smirk? How can you be presidential without a smug look of self satisfaction every time you use a polysyllable correctly. That's hardly presidential looking, him with no tie, no cowboy hat. And look behind him. Do you see any grownups in ties standing behind him to reassure us that all that incoherent mumbling he's doing commands respect from a bunch of important guys in ties? How can we believe Gore is speaking coherently if there aren't any old dudes in ties standing behind him?

Sorry, but I just don't see "the president" in this sweaty, articulate man.

but it's a very genuine picture and shows him really doing something - and not for a photo op either. Unlike that worthless callous bastard in office now, he doesn't have to be 'dressed up' all the time.

It also speaks to his sincerity in not wanting to publicize his efforts.

This nation really missed out on what could have been a really amazing president :(

42. Al Gore in 2000 went from a 20 point deficit to winning the election
Gore was outspent by 2 to 1 because he accepted campaign spending limits on principal, had the worst, most hostile coverage of any Presidential candidate ever, and again, he made up a 20 point deficit to win.

The only thing that kept him out of the White House was massive voter disenfranchisement in Florida and the Extreme Court.

Bush v. Gore, that's the real :wtf:

72. I love this man.
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 06:38 PM by Borgnine
Seriously, he's one of the few guys I have "dude crushes" on. That is, someone I respect and admire with my total being.

I'm also kind of hoping for Gore/Clark in 2008, but I know it's a pipedream.

74. Kick!
I'm beginning to think that Al should re-think his exit from the political arena. This guy has it all...especially with that Tipper at his side.

Man, I miss Al and Tipper.

78. Thank you for kicking.
I've been thinking about Gore a lot lately. BTW, don't forget about Conyers in that great list of you. :)

81. when I think about --- all in all -- I suspect he would probably be the
best candidate. Granted, he's a bit right of me on some issues --but so are the other leading contenders ---

He seems to be aligning himself with the more progressive forces and it would be ludicrous to suggest that he cannot win --- since he already did even when the deck was strongly stacked against him and there was tremendous voter apathy.
