Democrats, the party of cowards, should
hold a press conference and select/declare a day of national mourning thus acting like they are in charge, not bush.

they should denounce the immediate response of bushco to rehnquist's death in comparison/contrast to the hurricane victims' deaths.

they should denounce the photo-ops of bushco while people needed help instead.

there should be at least SOME outrage on the part of the Dems.

now I know a handful of DEMS have made the media with comments, there has been precious little as far as I can see from so cal.

it may well be the congressional democrats are as complicit as bushco in the failures taking place but at least the dems could act like they...care more.

PS - I just got a mail questionaire from the DNC. I ignored the issues check boxes and wrote in big black magic marker letters, "why are the democrats such cowards?" and mailed it back.

2. I cannot believe the lack of outrage.
Makes them look like they're involved in the cover up.

3. "Not standing in the path of a train wrech" is NOT a policy
We've seen this with last year's election, we've seen this with Social Security, we've seen this with gasoline prices, we've seen this with recent reports about increase in pvoerty while CEOs' compensations go through the roof and now with Katrina.

The guests at Bill Maher last Friday really pounded on them.

Where is the leader who will grab a banner, a whistle, a flag or, even a cross - if you have to - and call the troops to storm the barricades?

Where is the leader who, yes, will stick his neck out to say: these are what I believe?

Where is the leader who will end up fighting windmills but at least will fight, will "dream the impossible dream?"

Where is the leader who will claim back the high morality that the pugs have been appropriated because they go to church? After all many who supported slavery, who still believe that people of color are of less value quote from their bible to jsutify this.

4. correct except for ...
there is no need to disparage their reaction to Rehnquist's death ... that reaction, whether we liked Rehnquist or not, was appropriate ...

keep the focus on bush going to fundraisers in Los Angeles and things like that ... and keep the focus on his complete failure to show any compassion for those who are suffering with this tragedy ...

the Democrats have become so timid and so afraid of being accused of playing politics with the NO catastrophe that they have failed to show any leadership by highlighting bush's total failure to respond ...

they really need to get past this "collegial, timid" mindset on just about every issue this country faces ...

5. it's 1927 all over again
now we need the next Huey Long to step up. His "rabble rousing" kicked the do-nothing Dem's in the ass and got FDR to move.

6. So Many Of Us Have Been Saying This For A Long, Long Time
I certainly don't understand it, and what's more find it appalling and spineless. It is becoming increasingly clear that WE are basically alone and will have to fight and fend for ourselves!!

OUTRAGEOUS!

8. So Pete Stark, Jan Schakowsky and Barbara Boxer are cowards?
How about Dennis Kucinich, Carl Levin, Russ Feingold, Barney Frank, Henry Waxman, Byron Dorgan, Barbara Lee, Sheila Jackson Lee, Jim McDermott, Robert Byrd and Dick Durbin, JUST TO MENTION A FEW?

This is a tricky time, and whether people with an axe to grind understand it or not, the primary focus needs to be on getting the problem solved. Yes, Junior should take some public heat, but if it's just shrill partisan screaming, it's not going to help a thing.

The Democrats are not the party of cowards, and saying so is offensive. They haven't just lain down in front of this bunch of thugs, but I have a feeling you can't be convinced of anything like this. Regardless of the fighting against the tax cuts, regardless of the opposition to the war resolution (about 2/3rds of House Democrats and almost half of Senate Democrats), regardless of the limitations inserted in the resolution I'll bet you'll still not be satisfied that they're anything less than craven nobodys who aren't up to your standards.

Calling this party the party of cowards is disgusting, abusive, self-aggrandizing and just plain incorrect.

11. NATIONAL STRIKE
I haven't posted enough to start my own thread but I think the march on Washington scheduled for Sept. 24 should be supported by a National Strike as well. if half a million people march...it will be quite a spectacle that makes a whole 25 seconds of a splash on some of the MSM outlets.

With a broad scale National Strike...NOONE can marginalize the degree of outrage nor the numbers of us involved. There are certainly MILLIONS and MILLIONS of us who simply can't attend or participate in Washington or even local gatherings but we CAN make a difference collectively simply by not going in to work or calling in sick in support and solidarity with the others who are marching that day.

The rigged elections, the war, the corruption, ALL inclusive in this massive protest and when 100 million people don't go to work that day there will very certainly be a reckoning or at least a visible show of what our numbers REALLY are.

It starts with a voice...preferrably one with a microphone and perhaps that voice could encourage a few friends with microphones (Air America?) to begin spreading the word...

NOW is the time folks...anyone disagree?

(thanks for the platform)
