Who Is Wayne Madsen and Why Does He Call DU Dems Squishy?
Anybody know anything about this?

"ALERT: WMR readers should be aware that web sites like Democratic Underground are "locking" information on the radio jamming in Louisiana and the corruption involved in FEMA hurricane disaster preparedness (IEM Team contract). Readers should also be aware that the Pentagon's technology blockade strategy extends to the Internet. Web sites like Democratic Underground and Daily Kos have a lot of explaining to do when they censor critical information during a national emergency. These web sites, along with Fox News and the other news sources with overt and covert political agendas, are not serving in the public interest and should be avoided as sources for important information. For example, some Daily Kos posters are questioning whether FEMA deliberately cut Jefferson Parish's emergency telephone lines. That is because many of those involved with Daily Kos and Democratic Underground are squishy Democrats with a pretty obvious agenda. - WM"

6. What IS the agenda of a "squishy" Democrat?
I thought proper Democrats always questioned information.

For instance, I believe FEMA deliberately cut Jefferson Parish's communications, and I have many questions about the why. I'm not allowed to ask?

I've heard there was some jamming. But I haven't heard the latest explanation.

Wayne Madsen has always been a bit on the paranoid edge for me. But that doesn't mean BushCo isn't part of a fascist conspiracy. In fact, I think it pretty much always is. Now he wants to believe it's a smart conspiracy instead of their usual stupid one? Eh.

7. Never heard of him.
But conspiracy theorists are posting this crap lumping DU in with covering up the communications being jammed in NO. Thought it was just a teensy bit over the top. *sarcasm*

8. Wayne Madsen has made himself less and less credible over the years
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 01:19 AM by Up2Late
I think sometimes his column is picked up by "Live Journal" but mostly he writes a lot of un-corroborated crap. He's only slightly more reliable than Alex Jones.

Most likely, someone is posting his stuff to "Latest Breaking News," where rules avery strict as to well sourced News, not Black Helicopter type stuff.

to discredit him. Yes, I know we disproved his claim about the checks. But I've begun to wonder if that wasn't a Roven/Rather trick on him. My main reason is that on Friday (I think? it was) on C-span the answer to the 9/11 commission was on (the wives and discussion panel, including Sybil Edmonds) also included Madsen in the discussion panel and they seemed to respect his input. So it left me wondering about his information and rather he really is more credible than we think?

12. "to censor and put out propaganda"
is there any evidence that DU has locked threads BECAUSE they contained references to information blocking in Louisiana? is it possible these threads, if any, were locked for other reasons ...

whether DU has "squishy" Democrats or not, Madsen provided no specific examples of what threads got locked and why they got locked ... absent better information, i choose to disregard his criticisms of DU ... i don't think DU is in the business of condoning a mind-control campaign by the federal government ...

on the other hand, the points he makes about this evil federal policy are critically important ...

from the link in the BP:

From "The Manchurian Printer," Simson L. Garfinkel :

"Not surprisingly, the unclassified version of the Pentagon's report barely mentions the offensive possibilities of Information Warfare---capabilities that the Pentagon currently has under development. Nevertheless, these capabilities are alluded to in several of the diagrams, which show a keen interest by the military in OOTW---Operations Other Than War. "They have things like information influence, perception management, and PSYOPS---psychological operations," says Wayne Madsen, a lead scientist at the Computer Sciences Corporation in northern Virginia, who has studied the summer study report. 'Basically, I think that what they are talking about is having the capability to censor and put out propaganda on the networks. That includes global news networks like CNN and BBC, your information services, like CompuServe and Prodigy,' and communications satellite networks. 'When they talk about 'technology blockade,' they want to be able to block data going into or out of a certain region of the world that they may be attacking."'

17. Well..
There was a thread by Eloriel locked then deleted just yesterday because of a slight hint of "weather modification" type conspiracy theories - it was eventually recreated by EarlG and put back in place, but the reason it was deleted in the first place was so thin it makes you wonder.

From what I have been able to figure out, certain topics have been labelled off limits because they are too tinfoil for the mainstream, and DU is trying to be mainstream.

Personally I have no problem with DU preventing such discussions if they wish - its their site after all - but its not like there is NO reason for people like Madsen to say what they are saying.

23. when this man was on with Russert
a republican from Mississippi (the governor?) said that Mississippi was happy with the feds response and had glowing things to say about how things were going in Mississippi. But not 15 minutes ago I saw a report out of Biloxi and it did not look good. They were running out of food and water etc.
