13. I think he was trying emphasize the obvious. But by doing it, he

created a odd choice of words that diminishes the group as a whole. Hey, he could of said they are soooooooooooo, very black. That way, his choice of words would be obvious.

if its the clip I think it was, he was responding to Cafferty's excellent rant about the apparent racism in the response slowness. If its taken out of context, that would be unfortunate.

15. I'm no fan of Blitzer's BUT...

This is an unfair charge against him. I heard what he said, live. He wsas referring to the fact that most of the victims were black, and it was obvious to me that, while his phrasing was clumsy, there was nothing racist about what he said. He was, in fact, emphasizing that the disater was hurting blacks, as a group, more than whites in N.O.

Look at the way the word "so" is used nowadays, which it didn't used to. "You are SO grounded." You are SO fired.

Some time back those phrases made no sense and you'd never have heard them.

IMO, what Blitzer said made more sense because there can be varying degrees to which a city is composed of black people.

But the state of being grounded or fired is pretty much a binary state. You either are or you are not. Although the grounding can last different amounts of time.


You may not like Wolf, but he ain't dumb at all.

16. Personally, I long for a day when a person will be a person,

not defined by the COLOR, or the ethnicity... and, it would be nice if we were all genuinely equal, too. I will probably never live to see that day, but I've always wished and worked for it. When it happens, wherever I am, I will be happier for it.

he was describing the poor souls at the NO superdome and i think at least the guy is not racist, but he meant to use the adverb "so" to emphasize how "Black" the crowd was in the context of it not being a heterogeneous mix.
