2. Not going to happen...
Remember in 2004 when his party ASKED HIM NOT TO? It was the most disgraceful moment for them ever. The Democratic Party didn't want to rehash the stolen election of 2000 so they asked Gore not to run.

3. So, we the people, should ask him
I think Dean would be suportive of a Gore presidency.

I think it is a great idea.

20. It Will If We "Tell/Email/Call" the Dem Party and Tell them so!
Lateo, we have to take charge of our futures here. The Dem Party has no choice but to listen to us, their voters. If we do not start speaking out louder, we'll continue on this slope.

18. The great irony about Florida 2000
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 09:26 PM by brentspeak
is that Gore did an unbelievable job campaigning there. It was "supposed" to go to Bush even without the cheating, but Gore earned his taken-away-from victory.

10. He already did that, and he WON. Why would he try again?
What's the POINT of running when the vote is RIGGED?

And yes, I agree that Gore is currently doing
what a concerned human would do...
As opposed to the Blivet, who I can't even discuss right now.

I hope Al Gore still has a degree of certainty that he can win an fair election next time around, if he does get the nod.

I think there are better choices to bring the country together, move forward, improve our chances of winning, and expand our base (without compromising our principles), but Gore would be a great one.

38. Forget about "bringing the country together"
It was not Bush who divided us. We divided ourselves.
I don't think there's anything in common between me
and a fat, racist, pick-up truck driving, provincial, Bible-eating, NASCAR fan, retrograde fuckhead in Mississippi or Texas no matter who is in the White House.

The problem is always with the people not with a few politicians.
We are no longer the United States of America.
I would say we never really were.
And no damn president will bring us together because we don't want to be together.
If you still don't understand that just go down to Alabama and visit a Sunday church service then ask the guys over there whether they believe the universe is 13.7 +/- 0.2 Gyr. old?

They are NOT my people. And I'm sure the feeling is mutual. But it has nothing to do with Bush or any other pol in Washington.

13. Too bad this has gone under the media radar
Gore would have been a great President. This shows his leadership and is a stark contrast to the thug in office now.

If Gore runs, I would be estatic. I have a feeling that things are converging and Gore will be the right person for the job. The environment is getting destroyed, the economy is going down. Gore has always been a strong environmental advocate and people will look for him to bring back the 90's boom.

23. I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK! Run Al Run!
this country is facing a shitstorm and we need our best running this country.

after 8 years of bush and his bushevik cabal i don't think we can stand another republican in the white house for a generation if ever again.

al gore knows more about america and its place in the 21st century, has more expereince than anyone in this country to run this government.

we need competence tempered with compassion.

al gore has it.

if he decides to run i will be there for him to volunteer for him and and support him to bring america back to the country i once knew.

First of all, Gore didn't lose.

Second, tell that to Nixon.

Lastly, Gore's firey speeches last year were all over the media.

31. Now nobody cares about how awkward Gore is, right?
And how stiff and how he "cannot connect with the people"?
Noone cares about how he "changed" in the three debates and how stupid it was not to "use Clinton"?

Why does it take a disaster for people to see what the presidency is all about? And why don't they focus on the weight of the job during the goddamn campaings? Why all the talk about earth tones and cowboy boots and Love Story and make-ups? Are we electing someone for the Broadway or the Oval Office?
It's crazy. The voters behaved in 2000 like a bunch of whiny kids. They just didn't get it. And that includes millions of Democrats.

Only a candidate who would be a good president can be called a good candidate. Period.
So tell me now: was Gore a good candidate in 2000?

If anyone was stiff and awkward, and couldn't connect with people it was our LAST candidate, not Al Gore.

Gore just couldn't dance.

32. If Tricky Dick could do in '68 no reason Al can't do it in '08
Never say never. Some similarities, Narrowly defeated former VPs who sit out an election cycle and come back from being politically dead (Nixon even beaten in '62 Ca. gov run), both benefiting from an unpopular war. Al Gore is a genuine patriot and if he feels it is his duty to help this country he will seek the office.
