"I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate Keith Olberman, and especially his editorial tonight. Many people in America are outraged and wounded by the handling of the aftermath of Katrina. Yet, we often feel that the news media cares more about spinning the story to make Bush look good than it actually cares about the truth. The truth is America is wounded. We hurt.
I'm so OFFENDED by what Bush has done and continues to do. How his Administration could worry about getting Justice Roberts confirmed and passing repeal of the inheritance tax when the nation is facing the biggest natural disaster crisis EVER is beyond me. We're GRIEVING, and he wants to talk about appointing his political cronies. Well, we know what happened when he appointed his cronies to the Department of Homeland Security! The insensitivity Bush has shown in the midst of our grief reinforces my belief that Bush absolutely DOES NOT care about Americans. He betrays his oath of office. I am so ANGRY!!
I'm wounded and angry to the point that I can't even look at Bush anymore without feeling physically ill. I have to turn the TV off when I see him.
I appreciate Keith Olberman because he says part of what we're feeling. And small comfort though it might be when thousands of Americans are dead, it is a comfort in the midst of our pain. Someone out there does understand how we feel, and he's willing to say it in public. Perhaps if others had bothered to do that in the years before Katrina, the horrors of New Orleans after Katrina might have been avoided.
Please pass along to Keith how very much we appreciate his work on our behalf."
