In my 58 years I have never seen a man more hated than Bush. Have you?
My clear recollections go back to Kennedy. My first hand recolelctions (not as clear) go back to Eisenhower. I was born during Truman's era.

I can't recall a more widespread and visceral hatred of a national leader of this or any other nation than I see now of Bush. (To be sure, there are those who just as stongly adore the man, but their numbers seem to be dwindling of late.)

Can anyone name a national leader who is or was more hated than our own bastard son concieved at the unholy daliance between Barabra and Lucifer .... our Spawn of Satan?

I cannot.

More hated than Nixon, even. Which is really saying something, if you ask a younger voter who wasn't even alive during the Nixon Admin.

A lot of folks hated Clinton ... and still do
But that hatred was without the same bases as what turns people's stomachs about bush.

For what it's worth, I think bush is more like his mother than his father. I think the elder George had more decency at some point that the boy king ever had. I did not agree with his politics, but I think he was not inherently evil. I think barbara bush and her son are evil as hell.

28. Most of those who hated Clinton also pretended to be holier than thou...
or were afraid that the Clinton revolution would take this country in the right direction and that corporations and the rich would no longer be in charge. It might no longer have the best government that money can buy (as Gore Vidal so famously said).

Evil still isn't the word I would use for them. Cheney, Rice, a few others, sure--but Babs and *? I'm actually with Jon Stewart on this one: not evil, just accustomed. What they've DONE, though? Evil would be an okay way to describe that.

You can't even begin to same the same about Bush. Of course he's loved by those same idiot, uniformed, brainless ditto heads, and far flung radical religious nutcases that hated Clinton.

They really are some of the most uniformed people in the WORLD but they know how to tune a radio to Rush's show and he tells them how to live their life from that point on.

Other than those morans Bush is HATED WORLD WIDE. His base of true un-Neocon Republicans from the old school are abandoning him daily.

61. Not internationally.
When you count up the entire world, I'd say Bushie is the most hated political leader, ever.

America and the rest of the world forgave Nixon either because he had the integrity to step down and/or because his foreign policy was kind, thoughtful and inclusive.

About 40 percent of Americans are the ONLY people left hanging onto the hope that this swaggering Connecticut Cowboy hasn't REALLY pulled all the wool over their eyes.

The rest of us got that the first time around.

3. Nixon was not hated in the same way that Bush is hated.
Nixon, I.M.H.O., was somewhat delusional, and had degrees of paranoia. But I think he really believed he was doing the right thing.

George W. Bush, on the other hand, cares about George W. Bush. What can you do for him? How much money can you give him?

He's really a drunken, substance-abusing, Oedipal, A.W.O.L. frat boy from a family that made its fortune by bankrolling the Nazis.

13. You're older than I, but even Nixon's enemies had some feelings
for him. All Nixon had to do was say he was sorry, he'd made mistakes, and the country probably would have let him stay on. Bush, however, has gone beyond that. He simply pays no mind to anyone at all and relies completely on Rove to run damage control. That will be his undoing.

Bush is the worst president in US history, bar none. He is arguably one of the worst leaders in world history. Even the Romanovs and the Bourbons were better liked, and you know what happened to them.

Other presidents are guilty of fading into obscurity or of lining their and their cronies' pockets such as in Teapot Dome and Warren Harding's administration. Bush left Harding in the dust long ago. It's not a few oil wells this time; it's the whole kit and kaboodle, and the world to boot.

Enjoy the ride, but if you must vomit please do so over the side of the rollercoaster. :D

Since peaking at ~90% just after '9/11' Dubya has lost 13% of the electorate per calendar year. And they never go back.

He's keeping up to speed this year if not accelerating...downward.

I'm not kidding you when I say Nixon's lowest approval rating, 24% in August '74, is going to be in danger of getting beat in the next year or two.

was that Lindon Johnson was the most disliked president. We go back to a vague remembrance of FDR, then to Truman. Boy do we need Him right now. I think that after going thru a slew of presidents in my 63 years, this one takes the cake. Others were bumbling fools, crooks(with brains) connivers you name it. Only Clinton had a brain worthy of the job. Too bad his aside activities messed up his legacy. This current officeholder tops all for least admired. Hate is a strong word and I reserve it for only 3 people. Two did vile things to family members, the third did vile things to this country. I would not throw them a life ring if they were drowning. Not very nice to admit but true.

Just today, my neighbor, a thoughtful and intelligent person who has mostly voted republican all his life said to me - **volunteered** to me - that he is so angry at Bush he can't stand it. Katrina was his bitch-du-jour, but it is far more than that. It is the very man. He spoke to me about how he's the contempt, the arrogance, the self-involvement. The actions are bad enough. But in my neighbor's case, it is even more the man.

I think the only other Pres who was actually HATED was Clinton, and only by the extreme RW! They really detest him...even today!

I might add that my 91 year old mother-in-law is sharp as a tack and has reserved the most venomous words of her life for this impostor. My parents lived through the depression, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Watergate and the O.J. trial. They never expressed feelings like our entire family now has against this murderous idiot prince. Thankfully they were spared the darkest days of our republic.

26. Lyndon Johnson was reviled because of Viet Nam...
but that wasn't an optional war that he started. Lyndon Johnson studied the lists of American dead every day and wept.

Shrub's trumped-up war has led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis, an entire Arab world that hates us intensely, and almost two thousand American troops who don't have the necessary provisions to fight a war (not to mention that National Guard were never intended to be foreign legionnaires). Ken Lay was his biggest supporter. Halliburton is one of the few (corporations) who benefit from this ungodly unprovoked act of agression.

The fiasco that has happened in New Orleans after the natural disaster is a order of magnitude more negligent than anything else that has ever happened in this country (ignoring the warning that bin Laden was preparing to attack using planes follows in second place). Hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent people drowned because of utter incompetence.

And through it all, one is encouraged just to go shopping, take vacations, and burn oil (if you need it).

Meanwhile, repealing the estate tax and dismantling social security are on the agenda to be the big "legacies" of this administration (as if Katrina and Iraq weren't enough). Has the educational system been so trashed, and the media so corrupt that Americans can't see what is going on?

31. Interesting perspective .... Katrina worse than Osama .....
... and on reflection, I agree with that.

I need only project forward with history as my lens to see the school texts of 2075 .... referring to the Great Storm of 2005 and the President who failed to save 12,782 lives.

The death toll from Katrina is likely to be staggering. No one - not even the most rabid antibushista - can make the case that the storm was his fault (even global warmng has been going on for more than the five years he's been around). But even the most ardent supporter has to agree that the largest share of the blame goes to the federal government ..... **his** federal government. Katrina will be the woman who would not be scorned.

Worse than Nixon

Worse than Bush I

45. I had never been very political until * first began running for President
I knew, KNEW this was horrible to the depth of my being.
I had the worst forboding I had ever experienced in my life, and THAT my friends is when I became truly involved in politics. I began writing letters and participating in online debates.

I have NEVER loathed another human more and I use the term losely.
It is not what he is doing to me personally, but to the planet, other nations, and my fellow human beings.

46. In my 53 years I agree with you and
his bad karma of hate, killing and division is permiating our whole country.

People had better wake up before it is too late!!

When I think of the young people and what they will inherit, it makes me ill.

We are in the same age group, so I want to tell you that yes, things are as bad as you think they are. Really, I'm soooo trying to find something positive, but it is almost impossible......at our age, there is not alot that scares us, but things have really gotten scary....

52. He is hated in
our own nation, around the world, and making our nation more hated around the world.

After watching so much progress over the decades, this has been a very sad era.

Hopefully the rebound will be more powerful and in the correct direction.

who has a heart, a mind that can think clearly, and a soul that embraces the Liberal values we all share.

But, in no way, is he hated roundly or across-the-board. No way. I live in Mass., bastion of the Northeast Liberal, so hated everywhere else. We used to have more bleeding-hearters per square foot than any other state. We are the proud home of the Kennedys, fercripessake. And, here, where I live, the talk at the grocery store, and the ice cream stand, and the farmstand does not blame Bush for this disaster unanymously. Far from it.

I said this in another thread, but it bears repeating: Bush is the most highly and expertly protected and defended President in history. Karl Rove and Karen Hughes go beyond qualifying as PR, and should be seen as "Psy-Ops". And the evil Neo-con minion who have been elected, and control all the arms of government, encircle him -- speaking in expertly crafted and framed talking points, makching against us in lock-step. They never vary. They never waiver. The people hear a coordinated message about this monster day in and day out, and after about the hundredth time, they believe it. Even here in Mass.

Do not avert your eyes from what you will see. Watch as he gets away with this. (And, he will get away with this...) This is a President who has literally and figuratively gotten away with murder, not in one instance, but in several instances. And, under his "governance", racism, classism, hate, and greed have all reared their ugly heads again in America. That will be his legacy.

58. He's emulating Herbert Hoover to a tee......
Really,if you compare their ideologies they are very similar albeit 80 years apart.

1.Let Corporations run the country
2.Give Corporations every break possible
3.Give the wealthy every break possible
4.Americans don't need or deserve Government help or social programs
5.When the economy goes south do nothing,it will improve on its own

60. Bush is Hated outside America
At my university in Glasgow, we held a debate for the Bush vs Kerry election.

It was basically a 99% Bush-bashing fest. Very funny I might add as well.

My Dad was saying to me the other day as I was pouring scorn over the hopeless manner in which Bush is dealing with the hurricane, "Bush is to you what Thatcher was to me".

64. Tell your dad...
That Thatcher NEVER would have stood by and done NOTHING for five days as a British city die horribly. And for that matter, don't tell me that fucking HITLER would have stood by and DONE NOTHING for five days while a German city drowned! That's what sets Bush apart... his utter lack of concern for HIS OWN PEOPLE!

72. "Bush is to you what Thatcher was to me"
Thatcher times 1,000 ..... times a thousand.

Thatcher and her unholy alliance with Raygun, taken as a whole, was merely the opening act for what we're seeing today.

The only time that I've EVER seen such hatred for one man was amongst Cuban immigrants in Miami toward Fidel Castro. There's an intense hatred of Castro in S. Fla. Aside from that, no I've never seen anything even remotely close. The whole world hates Bush except for 40% of this country, and anywhere from 5% to 15% of other nations. That's worse than Hitler, by a longshot! Or anyone else in the Twentieth century... THAT is what the Chimperor will be remembered for. Being the most hated man that the world has ever known.

65. I think he gets a polarized response
The people that like him think he's god.

The people that hate him pray for his death on a daily basis.

I wouldn't say I've seen a man more hated, but rather I've never seen a man that made the U.S. so divisive, so polarized.

70. A lot hate him, but more either like or are afraid...
...of anybody else running things, because they won't be "safe" like they are now with Bush. Black people dying in huge numbers is not even a bad thing for much of our country, sadly. Just had a guy in the restroom say to me "Well, I hope they don't start shipping THOSE PEOPLE up here (Ohio)."
