Warriors, Come Out to Play-yay
An issue that I don't see anyone discussing -- so much has been made of FEMA backing off, time and time again, because they "can't secure the city". Early reports allege that the underbelly of New Orleans broke in stores like Sports Authority and WalMart to stock up on guns and ammo.

Bear in mind that I don't own a gun & don't know much about the world of guns. Is it that simple -- break through two pieces of glass (front door and gun cabinet) and you're well on your way to fashioning your own militia?????

Am I to believe that in the event of a disaster, I might become a political hostage because it's so easy to arm yourself? Wouldn't it just be easier to make it law to secure guns & ammunition if a state emergency is called? (better yet, every night)

If you've ever seen the movie 'The Warriors' (1979), you'll recognize that Cyrus's plan to take over the city just got played out according to FEMA.

1. What if they were terrorists arming themselves
and not just thugs? What if there was a national security threat in the area, like a nuclear power plant? The terrorists would have rowed away with a future nuclear bomb in a briefcase.

3. In WalMart the guns weren't even locked up
and let's not forget that just last year the GOP let assault weapons go back into gun stores.

The GOP also blocked all attempts to ban the sale of .50 caliber mini-howitzers that fire armor piercing rounds...wonder how many of those were in New Orleans gun stores?

7. I would say that you don't know enough to converse on this
subject. Stick to movie reviews.

8. Yes, it IS that easy. But...
The military have M-16s, the kind of thing that you can't get at walmart. They have deer rifles, .308s, .30-06, that sort of thing. A hunting rifle in untrained hands is no match for an M16 set on three round burst in the hands of someone who has been trained to use it.

The whole, "The city isn't secure yet" thing is just an excuse for Bush's inaction.
