First an email from a friend about her WHITE brother in Long Beach MS.
Len said that things continue to improve. The goal is to have power on in Long Beach in three days and the entire Gulf Coast by Sept. 11th. There is more cellphone coverage available too but still wait for him to call you.
Today, the guy who dug their pond a couple of years ago is coming to pull the big trees out and off his trailers. All that wood should be gone by tonight. The pecan crop is gone for the year but the mess will be gone too. Kim came down to help and spent yesterday picking up glass that had blown out of the garage windows and then she started piling up the shingles that had blown off. Both the glass and the shingles with the nails would make the yard impossible to walk on. That had to be done before the tree guy could come in. It's going to cost bucks but it will be done. The garage can't be taken down yet since it's so precarious. One end is pretty much standin/leaning but he doesn't want to damage (any further) the trucks he's been restoring.
He has about 30 gallons of gasoline. Phil's brother is driving down from the Northeast with a five hundred gallon tank he's going to fill along the way.
Kim came down with a baby squirrel that she found in their front yard in Hattiesburg. Yes, Len's sworn enemy is being reared by his daughter. She had raised three after Andrew a few years ago so she's got experience.
Len continues to repeat, do not believe all you hear or see on TV. There are 30 plus distribution sites in his area. All he has to do is drive up, and tell them what he needs. If you can't drive, they bring it to you. Mississippi guard troops and others and volunteers are doing this work.
Now there is this about Long Beach Mississippi
