Yes, my mother is a fascist. I mean that literally. Confronted, of course, she'd never admit it, but she believes in heavy militancy, keeping out the Mexicans who "have too many kids," and voted for Bush in 2004 because he has done a good job dealing with "those violent Islamists."
Well... anyway... here's what she sent to me today. Now, mind you, she was born and raised in New Orleans. She lives elsewhere now, but it appears that Bush's negligence hit a little too close to home.
I believe that a great deal of the blame at this point can be given to George Bush and the congress for their failure to adequately fund the flood control in N.O. I could cut them slack if it was not stated in the fact section of this article that $100 million was sent to Iraq to fund the wetlands project to restore the two rivers mentioned in the facts section. I'm all for keeping the terrorist unsettled and fighting in the eastern countries (Hopefully staying away from our country with its walk across borders), but why do we have to send an oil rich country $100 million to restore it's landscape?
There is just too much back slapping, short sightedness and politics as usual. Now the cost to the U.S. government (citizens), affected states and local governments will make the few million diverted to Iraq look like a spit in the bucket.http://www.factcheck.org/article344.htmlHell hath frozen over.
