Handy statistics to use against Freepers
Whenever someone says "It's the Democrats' fault" here are some handy numbers you can use to call their bullshit:

Consecutive years that the Republicans have controlled all legislative branches of the U.S. government: approximately 3 (since Jan. 2003, with patches of control in 2001).

U.S. Presidency:

Consecutive years since Republicans controlled the presidency: 5 (since Jan. 2001)

Total years, in the 25 years since 1980, that that Republicans have controlled the presidency: 17

Total years, since 1900, that Republicans have controlled the presidency: 57

Years since Republicans regained control of the House of Representatives: 11 (since Nov. 1994)

Number of years, since 1900, that Republicans controlled the U.S. House of Representatives: 28.

Number of years, since 1900, that Republicans controlled the U.S. Senate: 40.

Number of years that Republican senators have been able to filibuster Democratic policies: 144 (since the first Republicans were sworn in as Senators in 1861)

Years since Republican appointees formed a majority of the U.S. Supreme Court: 14 (since Oct. 1991)

Years since Republican appointees formed a majority of appointees to U.S. District and Appellate Judge positions: approximately 3 (since 2002, arguably much earlier)

Number of states with Republican governors, as of 2004: 28 (including the four largest: California, New York, Florida and Texas)

Number of states with Republican control of state senate, as of 2004: 24 (including New York, Florida & Texas)

Number of states with Republican control of state assembly, as of 2004: 25 (Including Florida and Texas)

Number of states with Republican control of 2 or more of the state assembly, state senate and/or governorship, as of 2004: 25 (including New York, Florida and Texas).

Number of states where Republicans control at least one of the elected branches of state government, as of 2004: 42.

Number of states where Republicans control all the elected branches of state government, as of 2004: 12 (including Florida & Texas)

Number of states where the Democrats control all elected branches of state government, as of 2004: 7

Number of states with Republican majority of US House delegations, as of 2004: 30

Number of states with Democratic majority of US House delegations, as of 2004: 16

Number of states with 2 Republican U.S. senators, as of 2004: 21

Number of states with 2 Democratic U.S. Senators, as of 2004: 15
