Nancy Pelosi Lets Bush Off The Hook.....
she is calling for Bush to fire Brown. Instead of going after Bush looks like she's willing to settle for the underlings. Am I interpreting this wrong?

1. She also said that if Bush wants an investigation into who is at fault
he should look in a mirror.

How's that for tough?

2. It seems absolutely urgent to fire Brown and Bush can do that.
He may be as urgent to fire Bush, but it will take more time.

4. Ah, hell.
She's just trying to get some accountability, anything.

If Pelosi pissed you off, you should get a load of Lieberman talking about a bipartisan look at what went wrong. Sometimes I can hardly believe I voted for him as VP when he ran with Gore.

5. Firing Brown is a good start
THEN go after Chimpy for lack of oversight into FEMA's actions or lack thereof.

7. It's time for a Democratic balls check and sadly
they are all going to be found on women legislators and members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

8. Going after Brown IS going after Bush, who appointed him!
I say, HURRAY for Pelosi, who said what needed to be said!

Bush hires his cronies; to be forced into firing one will be the beginning of the end for him.

9. I'm sorry but you could not be more than wrong.
Today I watched her and several other Congressional leaders give a presser right after Scotty's briefing.

I'll paraphrase for you:

Q: Who do you think ultimately holds responsibility?

A: The buck stops at the President's desk. And it stops there because he appointed an incompetent person to head FEMA. If he wants to know who to blame, well he needs to begin looking in the mirror.

I hope that more DU'ers wouldn't scoff at cherry-picked lines that don't by themselves cull their favor. Pelosi is mad as hell just like the rest of us. If she weren't, she wouldn't be human.

18. I think Pelosi does a pretty good job
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 12:53 AM by FreedomAngel82
I try to catch her briefings and she's always done a good job. I think she's a good choice for the democratic house leader. I would rather have her or Jim McDermott. Nancy has pose and grace though and does such a good job with getting the message across. I loved the mirror quote. LOL.

11. Yes, I think you are. Blanco requested fed help Sunday. Bush signed
a presidential order making LA, AL, MS, national disaster areas Sunday. Chertoff and Brown dropped the ball big time. They had all the Presidential authority they needed. They just did not know how to defend a strategic American Port. They had no plan to stop the flooding or save the refineries. It was more than a SNAFU; it was FUBAR.

A President cannot micromanage every government agency. It is called delegation of authority.

"The Buck Stops Here." While he is not responsible for Chertoff and Brown's lack of response, he is responsible for naming two idiots to posts that they were not capable to run. Therefore his lack of judgment is the cause of the tragedy.

His lack of judgment is also seen as further proof that the US is not the Super Power that it once was. He has lost so much face with the rest of the world that his Presidency is now dead internationally. While there is a concern prompting international aid, there is also the desire to rub his nose in it, especially since he travels abroad like an old 19th century potentate.

He must now defend at home because he has lost international respect. His base is in America because the World hates him.

15. But then the main blame must go to those who hired the idiot
who hired the two idiots. And thet's where the wheels will grind down because the republicans will not want to accept the blame for this tragedy.

12. With such a colossal failure of leadership
I hope that in January of 2007 the Democrat controlled Congress starts impeachment proceedings immediately.

That's accountability!

13. Bush would gladly fire Brown to deflect the real blame...
If you remember Nixon before he went down, many called for his underlings to resign. He gladly played right into the trap.

gov't. Oh, and the evil evil Dems who want to "point fingers" and "play the blame game."

23. Bush has a hard time firing anyone he considers loyal to him.
In fact, loyalty appears to be a hiring criteria that Bush places WAY ahead of competence. That's why we keep getting in these messes.

25. Firing Brown means to admit a mistake- it's not in them.
I really believe now that they are out of touch- they think they can blame the NOLA city zoning board or somthing.
