An Idea for a comman task for all DUers .......
Is there any value in putting Google to good use and looking at the backgrounds and qualifications of some of idiot son's appointees?

We now know that the FEMA head is a failed horse show association president.

We also know from this thread (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=4673102) that the former advance man for the Beach Boys is now the TSA head at Newark Airport.

Who else is eminently qualified for the job we the people are paying to be done?

Is this research worth doing?

1. Yes, in light of all the catastrophes, I feel it is.
But we'd need a central depository for all the
information

2. We had the same thought. This post got NO response.

This is our mantra: Cronyism

How many people are on the payroll because they helped with *'s campaigns? AND, they have no experience for the job they get.

Bolton
Roberts
Albaugh
Brown (and his 2 underlings, Rhodes and Morris)
* also did another recess appointment last Wednesday to the Criminal Dept. of DOJ. She worked with Chertoff on Clinton's impeachment.

Who else? Let's make a list and pass it around. Give me more names and I'll make a list. Let's show the the world what has happened here.

The R's know how to win an election, but they don't know how to govern.

4. More on this idea .....
I just responded to a private message from another DU-er who also thinks this is a good idea. The text of my e-mail fleshes out the idea a bit. I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts.

Thanks for the words of support, I really do think this could be useful for far more than DU political masturbation. To be sure, inept political appointees are not the sole province of this administration. They just do it better and bigger (They're Texans, after all.) But guys like Brown and a few of the others at the top of FEMA are dangerous by their lack of qualifications.

I haven't done anything about this so far. My thought was to have a separate forum on DU where threads with this sort of information would be posted. Surely this wouldn't be a busy forum, but, with everything in place, it sure seems it would be a useful resource for anyone who wanted to know such things. Maybe even our elected 'leaders'.

It seems to me the hard part is finding out the names of the political appointees. Once the names are known, the googling should be easy. I was out looking on FEMA's web site, for example, and nowhere was I able to find out the top administrators and officials. Harder still would be finding out who's an appointee and who is career government service. Once we crack that nut, we could move forward.

So ..... all this is so far is a not-yet-mature idea.

Lemme know what you think.

5. It's a general theme in all areas - Iraq for exemple
It's going on at all levels. Partly political reward over competence, partly packing all agencies with neo-conservatives in a learning/mole capacity.

There were a couple of articles last year about how Bush sent loyal neo-conservatives as advisors to the Iraqui ministries. One was Bush's Education Secretary in Texas, whose was best known as an advocate of school vouchers, now in charge of setting up the Iraqui education system.

On a smaller, but more dangerous level, Bush is packing agencies with young neo-conservatives, as they begin to climb the ladder in the power structure. In Iraq, recruits for aides in the Ministries were chosen from job resumés at the Heritage Foundation. Thus, in the fall of 2003, five newly graduated college students found themselves in charge of the whole Iraqui budget after the more competent advisors fled in the wake of the bombings.

This is one reason for the Iraqui quagmire - ideologie versus competence! Anybody say FEMA!

This might actually be a better header for the study - "What happens when ideology rules over competence", as it show the results when neo-conservatives get to put their money where their mouth is.

I just had a hard disk crash, but if you're interested, I can eventually post the links when I get it glued back together.

In the mean time, for starters you can Google, "Baghdad year zero" by Naomi Klein (Harpers).

A friend from UNESCO here in France, just told me that the US government has provided, free of charge, young aides (neo-conservative) to various agencies. Thus they can learn the ropes as they report back their real bosses.

The neo-conservatives have at least a ten year advance when it comes to infiltrating the system.

Think we can ask MONSANTO to develope a special weed killer to clean this all out?
