ENOUGH with the ridiculous notion bush was a great leader following 9/11
the bastard sat like a deer in headlights reading a kiddie book, then flew around the country and hid in rabbit holes and didn't make it to New York for THREE F***ING DAYS. His ineptitude was the real reason Guiliani - who was doing only simply what ANY competent leader would have done - was given the status of super-hero.

I am sick of these comparisons of bush's dismal Katrina leadership to his supposed great perfomance back in 2001. HE SUCKED THEN AND HE SUCKS NOW.

allowed the vultures to have their way with the Constitution.

before or after September 11, 2001.

He was a scared little bunny rabbit -- running from one hole to the next.

4. SUPPORT ...
The guy didn't break down and cry ... That really is all he had to do ...

REALLY, they are going back to the playbook here ... After 9-11, it was the greatness of the COUNTRY that showed through ... Iraq, it is the greatness of our military that kicked Saddams' butt ... Now, it is the greatness of our COUNTRY that is responding to this disaster ...

But, somehow, the media allows this little worm to HIDE BEHIND our country, our soldiers, then portray him as a tough guy ...

FOUR PLUS YEARS now, and we still have the media trumpeting how this guy is "resolute" in some manner so as to excuse the absense of any other real positive trait ...

It ain't FREAKIN RESOLUTE ... It is friggen stubborn and concrete ... It is NOT a positive trait ... It is part and parcell of a deluded and incompetent personality ...

7. No shit. I read yesterday something about bush*** "made his bones"
on his behavior after 911 and I was appalled.

All that cretin did was sit there with a fazed look on his face, finish reading a kid's story, and run and hide here in Nebraska.

Or maybe I just don't understand the phrase "made his bones". But I'm pretty sure I do. And all that guy did was go into a coma and probably shit his pants.

9. Well....he was better following the September 11th attacks
He spoke to the country the evening of the attacks. He did not do the same for the Katrina fiasco. He used 9-11 as a way to get to Iraq/Saddam Hussein, so he had an actual interest in that act of terrorism. For a natural disaster, what does he benefit from? NOTHING. The man is only interested in what can help him. He ran to California to save his sorry-ass ratings prior to going to New Orleans and Mississippi. What does that tell you about him?

his incompetence COST LIVES - there was NO REASON that second tower was not evacuated - BUSH INC FAILED TO DO *ANYTHING* THAT COULD HAVE PREVENTED THOSE ATTACKS OR MINIMIZE THE DAMAGE. He WASN'T better then - he SUCKED.

11. I see your point
but I still believe he showed more concern back then than he has shown now. Back then, I (who cannot stand Bush) thought he cared. I am hoping that people see him for the asshole that he is, particularly the republicans.

do his "I'm a gonna git ya, Osama!" routine, and the MSM falls all over themselves fawning. "He's like Churchill, Roosevelt, and Lincoln all rolled into one!" It didn't seem to occur to them that standing atop the rubble of the WTC was a picture of failure. Or, rather, I suspect they thought it would be unpatriotic to point that out.

Now the media likes to refer back to those days as a way of throwing the Pres a bone while they are hammering him for something else. "Mr. President, show the leadership we saw with 9/11. We know it's there, somewhere." But it isn't. Because he didn't.

The two episodes are broadly similar: advance warning, vacationing President, ineffectual response, lying, blame shifting... All hands on deck to cover the President's ass.

Same ol' George.

15. Guiliani as well..
... how low have we gone when doing a photo-op speech at a disaster site passes for leadership?

Guiliani did what 90% of all people in this country would have done under the circumstances, and suddenly he's a great hero.

Spare me.

19. But the media and repug spinners created the myth.
Because withing a week, he was declaring war on Osama at the site of the WTC attacks.

Of course, it was all bullshit, but we didn't know that we wouldn't have osama four years later and in fact Bush would essentially give up two years later.

The media isn't buying it today. Only difference.

That's all I meant.

And I wonder if there might be an opportunity to get people to rethink the myth and remember my pet goat and Bush disappearing to unnamed air bases to clean his drawers.

Once, on CNN, I think, I saw this promo for some 911 special and they depicted Bush, as strutting around the oval office, in charge and on the phone. I never saw it again, so it must've been pulled fast.

24. I remember that bullhorn photo op. The original footage showed...
firefighters yelling, "We can't hear you!"

That's why * said (paraphrased), "The people who did this will hear from all of us soon."

The next day, that footage was edited (cleaned up) to become the definitive george W. 9/11 "strong leader" response. The "We can't hear you was edited out, and the word "and" was deleted from *'s bullhorn reply to the firefighters.

Pure D propaganda.

27. Jimmy Breslin agrees that Bush was worthless and Guilani didn't do any
thing that anyone else wouldn't have done.
<snip>
Bush's style is to be nowhere if things that carry a bit of fear happen. During Vietnam, he kept all dental appointments. For the World Trade Center attack, he first froze in a classroom in Florida. Then he flew off in his plane for long hours. Three days later, he got to New York where a flunky placed a retired firefighter, Bob Beckwith from Long Island, alongside him atop a truck. Then Bush called out a football dressing room speech over a bullhorn.
<snip>
This racism, which is at the bottom of everything in America, makes it only natural for Bush and his people to talk about turning to Rudolph Giuliani to save New Orleans as he supposedly saved New York after the World Trade Center attack.

In New York, Giuliani did nothing but go on television. That's all he did and all he ever can do. Beautiful! There are television cameras in New Orleans. And just like Bush, Giuliani doesn't want many blacks near him. If more than two blacks entered City Hall, he called for snipers. Giuliani doesn't even have a show black like Condoleezza Rice, who bought shoes in Ferragamo in Manhattan this week.

Bush got found out this week and he needs his own rescue. Assure Giuliani that he could run for president if he does the job. As New York found, he can do nothing good about anything. That doesn't matter. Without somebody in front, Bush stands there, uncovered, without an American flag draped around him, as the most incompetent president we've ever had
