I'm asking for some good responses for Bush supporters.
As I'm sure most if not all of you are aware, when discussing political issues with Bush supporters, especially the Bush junta's failings, they often--in fact, most of the time--don't even attempt to defend Bush's policies/decisions, whatever, but resort to attacks on Clinton, others in the Clinton administration, Kerry, etc.

Any of yall out there have a dignified but well-chosen one- or two-liner to say diplomatically, "Quit trying to change the subject. Bush fucked up."

I just read this:

Our President, who is drug free and has no history of alcohol abuse and performs very professionally, is a shining beacon of light to those around the world.

Yes, our president IS a shining beacon of light to those around the world, at least for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see. He DOES perform extremely professionally. The fact that he was able to raise above his alcohol abuse at an earlier period of his life should be a heart-warming and encouraging example of hope to all who have stumbled--and are humble enough to admit it.

5. Ask how much slack they'd cut President Kerry
if he were off wind-surfing and skeet shooting as a Cat Five storm hit and destroyed a major metropolitan center.

Ask if they'd be ok with him appointing someone from a French Wine-taster's commission to head FEMA.

That should shut them up for a few minutes at least.

6. I may end up fired today.
I went OFF on a coworker this morning, trying NOT to go off.

She wanted to come over and talk about the hurricane, and I am still WAY TOO UPSET to do it rationally with a Bush supporter. She wanted to come tell me about a cat she heard that saved her owners life, and blah blah blah-- and OOOOHH how awful this is.

This woman is always talking about how well she raised her sons-- that one of them worked at a homeless shelter this past summer, and how the family volunteered for this or that.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't mean SHIT to me, because she votes for those murderous sons of bitches, and won't listen to any kind of argument against them.

We got into about Iraq last year, and she cared nothing for giving her sons to the war effort "because mothers of sons are just used to that. It's what you get used to." :eyes: I told her her sons would be dying for a lie. She told my boss.

Someone downstairs put up a Bush sticker on their office window before the election, which is considered against the rules, because it messes with other employees' morales. So I put up a Kerry sticker. My boss told me to take it down. I said I'd take mine down when the employee downstairs did. She said she wasn't his manager. Of course, it had NOTHING to do with the fact that she was a Bushie too. :eyes:

So I cannot talk politics here anymore. I've been warned.

When she wanted to talk hurricane this morning, I let her finish her story about the cat, told her Oprah had supposedly been very powerful yesterday, and then said "I'm sorry I can't talk to you about this right now. I'm still too upset."

Oh she was upset too, she said, paused and wanted to keep going. "NO," I said, "I cannot talk to YOU about this. BUSH is responsible for those deaths, E! HE had the money in the budget for FEMA, and HE CUT IT! Those people are DEAD because of BUSH! And I cannot talk to you about this because I am TOO UPSET RIGHT NOW! I do not want to get fired! Do you understand???!! Please just stop, OK??"

Boss will be in later. I'll let you know if I'm still employed.

Doesn't sound very promising. I went off on someone last year during the election run-up and got canned. Hopefully, you will just get a stern warning.

11. Thanks, sweetie.
One other coworker pointed out how short-staffed we are right now. Hopefully that will work in my favor.

I will not let myself be bullied. The only reason I've hung out this long is because of the insurance.

15. If I could move to Madison or Seattle tomorrow, I'd do it.
I've been stagnating here for the last few years now. And it's mostly because I hate most of my coworkers. They're sheeple. There are about 5 in a company of 600 or so that I know are sympathetic.

I'm hoping the hurricane has upped those numbers, but have to be very careful about finding that info out.

reprehensor and I have been trying to pay off our bills and move to Alberta, but we're still aways from that. He DID surprise me the toher night, and broke the news to his dad that we're considering it. That was a big step for him.

23. You CANNOT be fired for this!
You asked her to stop, she did not. She harrassed YOU! This is not allowed, and is in fact, illegal. Trust me. WE had a similar situation at work involving the Bible thumpers trying to convert a co-worker.

YOU need to go to your boss and complain about HER to cover your ass. If your boss dismisses it, tell her that you consider this harrassment because of your political views, and that if she does not notify the employee of your wishes for her to leave you alone regarding politics, you will take it up the chain of command and file a grievance against her (your boss).

She should cave.

28. Listen, if you do get fired:
1. Document up the ass hole.
2. Contact your local Dept. of Labor and file a complaint.
3. Contact a labor lawyer.
4. Sue the bastards for all their worth.

Good luck, this may be the best thing to happen to you.

14. I ask, "What does Clinton have to do with the job Bush is doing?"
Or perhaps say, "I guess you're incapable of saying anything positive about Bush, so you resort to attacking someone who hasn't been president in over 5 years, which, of course, is the republican way."

Or laugh and say, "Is that the best you can do?"

How many died under Clinton? Doesn't matter if it is bad luck or bad policy or incompetence Americans are dying in record numbers under republican management. Why should that continue?
